Thread: Getting 3G speeds at 2G plan [Chennai]

Hey ..I am from Dehradun, Selaqui...
A few days ago I recharged my 2G sim with 270 (for 6 GB ). Today I converted my 2G sim into 3G and recharged with Rs10 and now 20MB data is being shown (*123*6#). So what should I do now ??
Plzzz suggest me ..any help is greatly appreciated
........any ways I am planning to switch back to 2G ..n check whether they give my data back or not .."Pray for me brother " .... :

there is no trick here...airtel has boosted 2G SPEEDS to some extent for users who enable to 3G on their handsets.

Check my 3G speed in Bangalore, then you will get an idea what Airtel 3G is capable of..

For the time being Airtel is offering 3G speeds even for 2G customers only if you enable 3G on your Handset. I recieved a sms its a promotional offer and after it ends you can switch to 3G or stay back with 2G as per the requirement.

I think eventually everyone has to move to 3G one day. 2G will be discontinued one day may be. till then lets enjoy 3G at 2G rates. I am getting around 1.5mbps using 98 2gb card in delhi.

Hey wat would be the maximum speed in 5800XM if i charge for 3g internet booster.

Hey guys which one is the best. Airtel or BSNL 3g? But BSNL is cheaper than airtel. I get 1mBPS some times and it gradually reduces after using some MB's.

3.6 Mbps is maximum for nokia 5800. that means you will get 430 KB/s maximum download speed.

Hey guys if i recharge for 3g booster for 625 which is 1.25GB free, then will i get full 3.6 MBPS speed ?does any one get this or tried this

Speed depends on network strength in your Area. If you are indoor speed will be reduced in comparison if you are outside. when i checked on my HTC wildfire i was getting around 1.5mbps after connecting to my laptop.

if they had stopped the 3g speeds in d daates tat u guys hav mentioned , then hw wud hav i gt the speeds ...

the sad part is tat , i cam to know of this offer very late , and i hav been using this from oly d last week ..

Soo , hav they found out , or will we get the speeds back .. ????

lol. Dont expect ur speeds will increase . It was given to you for promotional purposes only. It happened with me too (Delhi). I had 2G Rs 98 2GB plan, but that data limits was given for a month in 3G!!

it was good till it last.

Put a 3g topup and check the speed. Why do u want to enjoy 3g in 2g booster pack. airtel administrators are not goose to give extra speed in 2g boosters. They are big group.
The only thing i want to know is, has any one topped up with 3g booster and checked the speed ? Bcos it seems docomo gives 21mbps in 750 top up for a month. Also many says reliance net is better than any thing and even roaming is free in tata and reliance

What do you mean by 3g speeds? I am using Airtel 2g GPRS 2Gb Rs.98 p/m pack and set my phone to UTMS. Am getting very good speeds. In fact I'm able to carry out video calls without any lag / drops. I do know that you can check your speed using some sites. But what do you qualify as 3G speed?

The party is over in hyderabad...

just now recharged with 98rs pack 1GB 1 month validity and am getting upto 3 MBPS on mobile this just rocks i think this 3G capping will last only some 2 hrs after recharge have to check this out

yes it will last only for few hrs.... afterwards it will surely be capped.

yeah after two hours i got normal 2g speed i.e around 0.09 - 0.02 MBPs.

Congos. Yes It seems to be some promotional offer. Surprisingly they have not blasted the tv screens with this offer.
I received 4mbps in Udupi.

what will you do for 4mbps if u have a 1gb plan few minutes only!
i will prefer 4KB/s(32kbps) connection over thaat
