First of all how can you use 2G pack on 3G services. I think Airtel automatically migrated you back to 2G services even when you have activated 3G. On the first hand it should have not been possible and 251 recharge should have been a failure.

3G speed on 2G is a trick which works fro some and is being discussed in other threads. check them out

Airtel & Voda GPRS are good.(150 kbps -200)
poor signal while indoors is inherent problem of the 2100 band selected by DoT for GSM 3G services. higher the band - lower the penetration ability.

the pvt co. had made huge payments for 3G. so other services are bound to be costlier to cover the charge.

    Default Rc96

    RC96 will give you 1gb + 30 min talktime + 500 SMS free for 30 days validity.
Even the speed is good as I am using this plan on my iPhone 3Gs.

i have recently taken this 98rs recharge in chennai and got 1 GB with30 days validity i use android samsung galaxy phone, so i have option of using 3G or 2G network i found one weird thing that when i select 3g network it shows (in one software) as 3.5 G HSDPA and when i use 2 G it shows 2.5 G (Edge) as network signal / name. But when used speedtest.net 2G shows more speed than 3G

    3G speed is :

DL: 34 kbps UL: 35 kbps ping: 464 ms
    network:UMTS, server: chennai

    2G speed is:
    DL: 137 kbps, UL: 65kbps, ping: 624ms
    network : edge server: chennai

isnt 3G supposed to be faster???????????????????????????

Specifically n karnataka Air$tel 2G plans are worst and also their speed too worse.
Earlier Their speed in terms of kBps(not k'b'ps)was 4-6kBps.
Now it is reaching from 7-11kBps(even in EDGE network) here. I would recommend Aircel in Karnataka they have still unlimited internet plans.(but their network is not everywhere but now they are improvising). If you have aircel full signal in ur area than worth buy it.
Below r de details of 2G plans.
    Speed-(17-26kBps)sometimes more than 30kBps.
    1)98-unlimited 30days.
    2)14-unlimited 3 days.
These are the only 2 plans unlimited and other plans have more validity but not unlmtd.
3G-i m not talking about 3G cause in 1 statement
3G data plans are not recquired to browse net as u can do it 2G & for downloading 3G plans are insufficient (they have low MB's and cost is high).
