Thread: Need the new Airtel 3g Rates

Hi, Airtel 3G Tariffs have changed. I did a Rs750 recharge & got 4GB instead of 2 GB.
The guy at the shop confirmed that this is not a temporary offer. I live in Kolkata.

Anyone who knows the whole chart, please share.

i think it should be the same for other circles.

1250plan ( 10gb, val 30days) is some what okay.

DOUBLE DATA offer valid till dec 31st...double data on 1250,750,450,198 recharges

Yes, 10GB is I guess doable but 1250 is too expensive for me. I am planning charging with 750+198=5620mb



Secondly, are you sure of the fact that the the double data rate is valid till Dec 31st ? The Airtel "officer" told me specifically that the data rates are going to remain the same while tariff for each plan may increase.

When i contacted airtel customer care they said offer is valid till dec 31st.......

i found the same on tt article @ sept, offer valid till next 3 months, so till dec ....

Does airtel allow data carry forward/validity extension on new data pack recharge @ kolkata? If yes you can go with 1250 plan at once and recharge with small data pack like 99rs ( 100mb ,val 30days) for data carryforward/validity extension on last day of validity on 1250 pack....you can carryforward your remaining 4.5gb with 99rs recharge , val 30days.....i think it's 97recharge for kolkata , 99 for ap

I just discussed about the whole thing with my folks. They are saying only a true unlimited connection can satisfy my surfing needs. I think they are right. I am going to apply for reactivation of my BSNL UL 750. I think that may take some time, so until then its Airtel 3G.

I got these new rates when I visited in early October. However, in the Kolkata circle, instead of "Rs. 25 plan" (above) it said "Rs. 29 plan". My question is, what is a Rs 25/29 plan?

Also, do these plans auto-renew every month? It didn't occur to me to cancel anything when I left India. I have a prepaid SIM with some money left on it.

When i contacted airtel ap customer care they said it won’t get auto-renewed....But we cannot trust their words....2G packs will get auto-renewed every month when you activate via *567#...not sure about 3g.

@Chuckles you should have de-activated 3g before leaving india .. by sending sms 3G to 121, reply with 2.

25rs plan: I think if you recharge with 25 pack your usage charges will be 15 paise for 20kb....default internet charges are 10 paise for 10 kb

Yes, I should have done this. Now I remember the time when I had to pay an absurd Rs. 35/day for EDGE several years ago; that plan renewed every day so I knew it was auto-renewing and so I knew I needed to cancel it. With monthly renewal, it takes a long time to realize that it will auto-renew, and of course Airtel doesn't tell you anything when selecting the plan. But it's OK; they will deplete my balance with the first auto-renewal.


EDIT: I wrote to Airtel and got the following reply:

We would like to inform you that, Standard199 3G is the auto renewal plan.

We regret to inform you that, we are unable to process your concern from our end.

Hence we request you to send an SMS with 3G to 121(toll free) within the 30days period for deactivation 3G pack.

SECOND EDIT: I replied reminding them I was outside India, so any SMS (even a free SMS) would incur a Rs. 99/month "rental" for roaming. I asked how I could deactivate 3G while roaming, without incurring a charge. The response was as follows:

We would like to inform that the Standard199 3G plan has been deactivated on 14/10/2011 as per your request.
...

This was unexpectedly good customer service. Moreover, each reply came within an hour of my e-mail.
