since 25th of november 2011, i have noticed remarkable or in other words steep fall in gprs or 3g speed.

i mean speed hasnt capped as mdma says in either of the 2 modes, but speed doesnt go beyond 40 kilo bits per second. i have 2 airtel numbers.

one is on edge (gprs) and other one is on 3G pay as u go plan.... in both of them, i am facing same issue.. even roaming sims of other states are facing the same in delhi circle.


its 4 days by now but no improvement. does any one facing the same or me the only person...???

Airtel has reduced speed in GPRS and 3G in AP too.

It will show 3G mode -MDMA profile may even show max 7.2 mbps/3.6 mbps depending upon uour data card,
but you will get 40kbps download only (that is if you are trying to use a 2G pack in 3G mode!)

They had a 8GB Rs 251 -90 day Gprs pack in AP.

Now it is reduced from Nov 30th to 4 GB-30 days validity.

but im getting the same 40kbps in pay as u go plan of 3G

If you are getting 40 kbps in 3G pay as you go (debiting from main balance), loose that sim (for 3G data use)if it is pre paid and get a new sim ,activate 3 G and check.
Also in the 3G sim which is getting 40 kbps,activate 1 day 3G data plan (say Rs 9/10 mb) and check speed. Even after activating a 3G data plan,you get low 3G speed,gprs @ 20-30 kBps is better.

well guys i think that the problem is from airtel server... because, speed is being reduced but not capped (technically) as depicted by speed profiling.

but im not sure for this.....

I notice some issues with Airtel 3G,

- Server will go down every 48hrs or 72hrs for a 12-24hrs of downtime.
- While downtime occurs the speeds are converted to EDGE (128kbps).
- When i call CC they say that their 3G Network server was slow atm, please try after 2hours.
- Speeds will be back after 12-24hrs.

Seems there was issue with Airtel 3G servers?
