Default Airtel Auto Renew Data Pack

Airtel have a new data pack renew service for their postpaid customers. Its quite normal that postpaid customers you have a data pack generally go over their data limit and incur a large bill for the excessive data usage.
For users who go over their data limit will now get 1Gb added to their account which will be charged according to the plan they have activated on their account, instead the previous charges which were made according to the Kb or Mb used.

An example of how the charges will apply are as follows:

If you have a Rs650 5Gb plan activated and you finish your data, you will be charged for the 1Gb which will be added to your account for Rs130. If you have a Rs250 1Gb data plan activated and you finish your data you will given 1Gb data for a cost of Rs250. The automated add on 1Gb data can be added up to three times.

Its a good move by Airtel but only beneficial for postpaid customers. I suppose having a postpaid connection has a lot of benefits as opposed to a prepaid connection.

This is something which should be launched for prepaid customers as well, as it would save the customers a lot of money when they finish their data before the validity expires.

Most phones actually have data settings which allow you to see how much data you have used. Also all service providers have code where you can get information about your remaining data. If you have a prepaid connection then its best to use these kind of services.

Yes most phones do have this feature, but I personally think it is not something which you can relay on. Once in a while you would need to check from your account details how much data you have remaining. A summery is also given when ever you use data, and it provides information of how much data you have used, how much you have left and the validity.
