    Exclamation NETGEAR DG834G or D-LINK 2640T

    Hi Guys,

I am using airtel 999 unlimited plan. I want to go wireless. So I decided to purchase a wireless ADSL modem cum router. I could find two products but unable to decide which one to go for. Please suggest me whether to go for NETGEAR DG834G or D-LINK 2640T? What are your opinions about these two? Is there any other model which is better than these two? All I need is very good range and hassle free connection. Thanks for this great forum.

    Thumbs up easy to use

i'm using D-link 2640t it works fine, easy to configure , the performance i'm very much satisified, it is working better than my Billion ADSL2+ router modem,

it is giving lots of option for a layman to secure your wireless network which are easy to configure

for this issues please clear browser cache and all offline content, cookies and you can try to reset your internet explorer to default setting and apart from that please check if you have any pop up blocker then do remember to disable your pop up blocker coz router auth box comes up as an pop up only

please update if you need more help and please check guide posted by me in Broadband How to section

does your netgear has rj11 slot??
the default gateway for netgear will be mostly 10.0.0.1
to check it, choose obtain automatically for ip address in your lan and then type ipconfig in your command to check the default gateway address and also whether you are able to ping the gateway.. if you are able to ping it then you will be able to open the router page with the gateway address which you got for ipconfig.. hope this will be useful for you.. if not please post it here..

Gateway address for Netgear DG834G v4 router is 192.168.0.1
it is exactly same as DG834G v3 router in configuration only difference is DSL light and internet light
in v4 router DSL light shows ADSL signal and internet light shows internet connectivity where in v3 router internet light shows ADSL signal

mate all versions of Netgear DG834G routers have RJ11 and RJ45 slot, infact all modem routers got that slot otherwise where we will connect the RJ11 or RJ45 cable

I have a Netgear modem and a D-Link wifi router. Both seem to be working fine though the Netgear seems to get stuck once in a while. They dont have a very great service support too. D-Link support in India sucks too but atleast their websupport is simply great.

If you have a little more budget try getting yourself a MIMO 108G router. It almost doubles the range and the speed is 108 Mbps instead of the regular 54 Mbps. Though this may not mean a great deal while you are surfing, it can be a great advantage when you are transferring data within your wireless network.

Yes User Id is 04042222222_ap or_tn or mh@airtelbroadband.in
and password 04442222222 ( change this later )

Probably the ID ( 33 characters) is not recorded fully in the modem/router
if you are trying "AlwaysON" PPP/PPPoE mode.
If Using an external dialer probably the ID will be recorded fully.
    Feedback.
