No. They use their own lines.

    @ronferds
    Start/ RUN type cmd
    type tracert Google
    Check the path taken.
    Check each IP location here.
    ip2location.com/demo.aspx
In India they connect to their own servers.
I think BSNl connects sometimes, to MTNL
or to old VSNL ( Tata indicom now ) Not sure.

there is no chance for that.. only for linking purposes airtel will be using other lines but not for providing services

as far as i've heard its not possible.. only for carrying the signals the networks will be shared.. its not possible to have a airtel on bsnl or vice-versa..

What you say is correct. Airtel does not use BSNL lines. TRAI has suggested cross-usage of lines but this is not accepted/implemented as yet.

I have a question regarding this.. if they use telephone lines anyway, I can use my already existing concealed wiring for this right?

My situation right now, is that I'm moving to a new house, it has completely concealed wiring. The telephone lines have an opening in the basement, My apartment is on the 5th floor.. so all I'll have to do is to get airtel's telephone line in the basement and install the modem up at the 5th floor.. isn't that right?

    YES>

Even if it is Internally wired Airtel
prefers to draw their own telephone cable connection from aJunction Box ( locked ) of their own in a flat complex. (with PVC pipes for "weather proof") to different flats.
    ( In Chennai)

Recently BSNL also laid new connection from their
junction Box using PVC pipes etc. ( as usual Don't care
    Box open !)
I have connected my internal wiring to BSNL.

When I wanted an extension to another room ( flat 2)
70 feet from my room, again AIRTEL made a new line from my room.(flat 1)
The Junction Box was nearer and distance was just
    30 feet .

Nowadays: Like Electricity connection, ( upto Mains Board)
    telephone providersalso allow consumers
to do Internal wiring for extensions etc.

U have no idea how horrible Airtel's reputation would get if they start sharing Optical Fiber cables with BSNL . I stay 300 mtrs from the BSNL exchange , have u even seen how these BSNL guys lay cables , it's horrible , they dont have a blue print of the area , they just decide , ok here is the best place to dig , start digging , lay the cable , put the mud back on and then 15 days later they start getting complains of people having extremely high signal leaks on their line , connectivity issues , disconnection problems , and a whole list of what not , :16: , no disrespect to the guys using BSNL , if it works for u it works for u , if it doesn't , then just give up and switch to another ISP .

BSNL Office has it connected in the following way

Main Exchange<-to->Dslam via OF Cable<-to->Junction Box via Telephone Cable<-to->your room via Telephone Cable.
The BSNL Babu will lay the cable like he was laying a cloth line , the Airtel guy on the other hand have proper piping and casing to conceal the wiring and protect it from effects of weather .
I will try to post photos , Airtel vs BSNL cable laying in my compound .:6:

If Airtel and Reliance use BSNL or MTNL lines as said by some users. So why Airtel is spending crores in digging the roads and laying theri own fibre optic network and small exchanges when they can use Mtnl or Bsnl ones. Airtel uses other networks I think but just for interconnectivity. And what will Airtel earn from Rs. 650 for 256 Kbps UL when they also need to pay to MTNL Lol

reliance uses its own BTS(base transceiver station) technology to provide broadband from that BTS optic fiber wire is taken and goes direct to DSLAM and from DSLAM to our home.
