hello all... i got a connection on the 31st oct... was happy till about 30 hrs with it...
the connection is having frequent disconnections, this problem was way more yesterday and has resolved to some extent today. I checked the snr margins attenuation n what not but all have outstanding figures.
that apart; the router is not forwarding ports on manual rules i entered in it. Just forwards when UPnP port mapping does that.
And what happend today about 3 hours back has spelled doom for my comp; what happened was that to have my complaint registered i just got to the online chat option in the airtel netxpert app (

) and there was prompted to install some sort of 'control' software, well i did so... then had my complaint registered for the freq disconn issue....
After this when i restarted my comp i was having unusually long boot times; so i decided to uninstall the control software (the latest addition to it)
after the uninstall i restarted the comp and still had the long boots so i decided to uninstall the netxpert soft too, the guy who installed the app clearly said i dnt need the soft to keep my conn running (why the hell did he install it then, useless comp slowing apps); so i just uninstalled and restarted to find that all my startup items had been deleted

my av, firewall, kbd.exe.... all!
i restored my av n firewall tho; but since then the router does not come up on the network connections as the gateway (upnp) neither does it show up on my network places.
and it is not forwarding any ports (since upnp is not working; look above)...
what now? what do i have to do to get upnp support back?
further now the modem shows an interesting thing ( even from before the soft uninstall) that its pings time out as soon as some app wants a port forwarded; this happens when i try to connect to msn on pidgin...
all in all i have now wasted my whole day with this connection, and am going to waste another 4 hrs if i have to format the c: and reinstall everything to get back the UPnP support; can airtel make up for my lost time!? no it has to go about making useless software for its customers.
and yeah incidentally i havent even got a call back for the complaint i filed today. the four hours of resolution time is about to expire in 40 mins...
Any solutions for my problems any1 please??
PS: Please go through the trouble of reading the post; i know its quite long
UPDATE: I managed to add all the missing startup entries myself... then the upnp hosts services was not started up; started that too, and portmapping works again. Looks like u r on ur own with airtel..
