Default Configure of THOMSON SPEEDTOUCH 585V6 with Airtel ISP

    Hi,
I was trying to configure THOMSON SPEEDTOUCH 585V6 Modem which i got from Australia is not working with Airtel ISP.

On the modem home page first click on Broadband connection and under that go for Internet Services now click View More.

and enter username and password, provided by Airtel press connect button.

Now all lights are green except internet which is RED for some time arround (10 sec) then off.

and hence unable to connect internet.

Can any one help to fix it.

    thanks
    kishor

    For airtel vpi/vci 1 and 32.
You may use dns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

Default settings in modem may be for Australian ISP.

Post screen shot of Basic/WAN page.

One sample page from web :

Here's a link to the User Manual for this modem: speedtouch.nl/docs/ST585_UserGuide.pdf
The document says a red internet LED would mean your connection setup failed. Could be an username/password problem or Connection Type settings.

Once you're on the gui page, on the left menu, click Broadband Connection. In the Pick a task... list, click Check connectivity to the Internet. Then select Internet from the drop down list and click on Check Connectivity. It should show you where it's failing. You could post a screenshot.

I'd agree with essbebe that the settings may still be for the Australian ISP with which it was used before. Probable differences would be modulation type, VPI/VCI, Connection Type (which should be PPPoE for Airtel) Then again make sure your username and password are correct.

I been through the screen shots and looks like it's exactly what's been mentioned. The settings are for the Australian ISP (evident by the region setting). The VPI/VCI is incorrect which for airtel should be 1 and 32 respectively whereas yours is set to 0, 35. Also try changing the Modulation to G.DMT which I believe should be what airtel uses.

once again thanks for ur help. I have noticed the region been showing as Australia what ever may be service selecte as u can see the page-1 the uploaded screen print. but did not find any way to change it.

As u mention the VPI/VCI is incorrect for my case is set to 0, 35. where as
should be 1 and 32 for airtel.

Did not find navigation for changing those values.

Can u please help to change it.
    thanks

http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...html#post48164 (How to set up "THOMSON SPEEDTOUCH 585V6 ROUTER" with BSNL, Pls Help...)

You can see the video also.
I could not check your zip file.
If you are accessing the modem pages, the User manual and Video
    helps you out.
