    Default Can airtel block websites?

I'm not able to access rapidshare.com since the past 2-3 days. I took the connection on 11th Dec 2008. I was working fine until 2-3 days ago. Now I just can't access rapidshare.com or download anything from it.

Does airtel have the right to block any website?

Although I am not an Airtel user, I do not think that Airtel is blocking RS or any other site.

It happend just 2-3 days ago. It was fine before that. I don't know if its because of those mediterranean cable cuts or anything like that. It works when I use a proxy site like hidemyass.com

I use Airtel Broadband and I am able to access rapidshare.com without a problem , as a matter of fact I download from hacked premium accounts almost every day . Check this screenshot from today , if your talking about slowness , yes since about 3 to 4 days browsing rapidshare.com and other websites have been slow due to the cable cut mentioned in an earlier post on this forum . Also I dont think any ISP has the right to block any website unless the Govt or any ISP governing body asks them to do so , and if they do block any website then the media will make a frenzy out of it in a matter of hours !!!

These are my DNS settings , check to see if it helps

    Preferred DNS Server = 59.144.127.16
    Alternate DNS Server = 59.144.127.17

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network Connections > Local Areal Connection> Right click , select properties > Highlight " Internet Protocol TCP / IP " Click the Properties button , make a note of your Preferred & Alternate DNS somewhere or just take a screenshot and save it to your desktop , change it to the one mentioned above .

Again right click the Local Area Connection icon and click Repair .

I hope this helps . Try the Open DNS servers .

I am sure that Airtel is not blocking anything , maybe the DNS server for your area / city has an issue , but I still feel it has to do with the cable cut thingi .

As a matter of fact , browsing for me is slow as well , I have to keep refreshing the page 2 or 3 times to get to it , even Google takes time to open every now and then , sometimes it will fix itself sometimes it will start acting up again , I doubt that the DNS server change will make any difference . I contacted Airtel CC and asked them to transfer me to their Tech Support guys , they said that tentatively it should be fixed by the 31st of Dec .

    I hope this helps .

Are you able to ping the IP addresses of Imageshack or Rapidshare? If so, you can try editing the host.conf file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add lines

IP address of Imageshack URL of imageshack
IP address of Rapidshare URL of Rapidshare

This file is used by the system for IP-hostname mapping.
    give it a try.

    good luck

    Default Again

The problem crept up again. since yesterday i am trying to access rapidshare in vain. One strange thing happened on 30th. Actually i was able to download thru flashget and the power went off. It stopped. And even after power came also. it was not downloading. so i turned off the router and then again turned on and it started working. But since yesterday, i am trying it so often. But nothing happens.

    Default RS stopped working again

    @Holydevil
RS is not working for me also for the last 3 days... This happened a few days back also. Havent talked to the airtel guys though.

Anyone here having any idea what the problem could be. I dont think it is still because of the mediterranean cable cuts.
