Default Airtel Suddenly gave me 2mbps

Recently ie 25th of December 2008 to be precise Airtel broadband service gave me 2mbps speed
I dont know what the reason was and after 24hrs it came back to normal 256kbps. I didnt ask for speed on demand or anything.
It was such a dissapointment when it was switched back. Any way I was wondering if the pros in this forum could help me explain what the reason was and is it possible to get those speeds again.
My plan right now is 256kbps UL
    My circle is Bangalore Karnataka
    Thanks in advance

lol this is not a mistake.
I had Airtel 2 mbps broadband for 8months for free. They took it off on Dec 25th. Now i m stuck with 128Kbps again .

My fren Harsham had even posted some of my screen shots on this forum showing my download speed. Those were the days ..........

and they had told me its a 1 month free trial.

I don't know if it is a mistake i also got some severe boost in speed on 14- 15 dec i guess just for 3hrs i guess

My Download speed was like 350KB/s And i download 1.36Gb of film in less than 1/2 hr Which was awesome hope i can get more speed boosts like this every now and then but back to normal to my usual 384kbps

Nothing new , it happens every other month for me as well , I have reached speeds up to 3 Mbps also , the good part is that since I am on a PPPOE setup , once I get a speed hike then the speed burst remains till I turn off my modem , not like I want to but accidents can happen like the maid accidentally hitting the power adapter and stuff . Once I got a speed hike for about 10 days + downloaded up to 180 GB with it !!! expect this kind of things from Airtel every now and then , that's why its my Fav ISP , check this forum , you will see many people using Airtel saying the same thing , however there is nothing that can be done on your machine to make the speed boost permanent, I guess this is something that happens at the exchange level , whatever it may be , when it happens , you get an uncontrollable urge to download anything and everything !!!

    I Don't Think So .

Here is a screenshot of the email I sent Airtel CC asking them for 1 Mbps trial and their reply saying that they cannot give it to me , they even called me up and asked me to use the bandwidth on demand thing to test the speed that I would get before migrating to the 1 Mbps unlimited plan !!! :2guns:

    That happened to me too
Today I called the airtel customer care and asked them about the unlimited plan for 2mbps
They said that they have 2 mbps unlimited plan but its gonna cost me Rs.16000/- per month
thats huge amount to spend on
then I asked them whether they could provide me with a free trial of 2mbps
in response they said they dont have a free trial right now and might call me if they have one.
so now i might call my airtel technician (he's a friend of mine) and ask him to pull some strings so that i could get one.

The Airtel engineer can do that ??? I mean , I know that BSNL engineers can if you pay them some money , they are a Govt organization who doesn't care much of the way things are run anyway , but with Airtel being private and all , the engineer can still give you 2 mbps for cheap ? Let me know what he says ! , but for now 2 Mbps speed is still going strong after the 24th hour !!! I hope it stays :winkiss:

Default Yes i can explain why..

Becoz the Bandwidth policies of the AIrtel Broadband at the server level were mistakenly chaged to 2Mbps for all broadband customers...that was your luck...

These spikes in speed happen sometimes.
A while back, everyday for halp an hour, I used to get 2 mbps download speed.
Once, for 10 minutes I got 2.5 MB/s upload (equivalent to ~16 Mbps) speed
