    Default New Airtel Broadband connection Upload speed is verylow

    Hi All,

    I just got myself a new Airtel broadband connection last week. It is the 799, 256Kbps UL plan, And I opted for the Wireless Modem\router.

    Using the Airtel NetXpert I noticed that the download speeds are fine and steady at 250Kbps - 255 Kbps. But I feel that the upload speeds and very low at 55Kbps - 70Kbps.

    Is this normal? I would like to know whether this is the normal speeds for this plan. Please help! I am not able to use my web cam on skype. I can see the incoming video without any breaks but my videos were getting stuck or had difficulty to upload.

    Thanks in advance for your help

    Nope , On a 256 Kbps connection you should get 250 ~ 256 down and between 150 to 200 Up , Post your Adsl modem statistics .

    To get your modem statistics , In the address bar of Internet Explorer type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter , if asked for a username and password

    ==============
    For Beetel Modem :
    ==============
    username = admin
    password = password

    ===============
    For Any Other Brand:
    ===============
    username = admin
    password = admin

    Once logged into your router , For Beetel Modems under the heading Statistics click ADSL , paste the following values of from your modem here
    ============== ==============
    Downstream ------------------- Upstream
    ============== ==============
    SNR Margin (dB):21.4-------------10.5
    Attenuation (dB):26.0-------------14.1
    Output Power (dBm):12.4---------4.0
    Attainable Rate (Kbps):16804-----1398
    Rate (Kbps):2554------------------1022

    I am sure that there could be a problem with your line Attenuation , there must be some kind of signal leak on your line causing the upload speed to be poor but the signal leak should also affect the download speed, ummm

    You also mentioned that you are using a wireless router, How far away are you from the wireless router , try going as close to the router as possible if that doesn't seem to help , try connecting via a wired router and check to see if the same problem exists

    During peak hours I get an upload of between 150 to 180
    During off peak hours I get a steady upload of 250 Kbps
    In the night I get an upload speed of 480 Kbps

    Plan = Home 888 Unlimited 256 Kbps during the day , 512 During the night , Unlimited , Airtel withdrew this plan 2 months after it was launched .

    i am also having the same trouble that my upload speeds are killing me i have a 384kbps connection getting download speed of 50-60KB/s and upload rate like 10-13KB/s which sucks i upload to RS a lot but with this speed i can go anywhere and i called there CC they sent their engineer and they tell that they have never taken upload speeds so seriously and don't look at that.

    Can anybody with 384kbps or 256kbps tell what upload rate they are getting.So that i can have a comparison and i am using a linksys wi-fi router after the 110BXI but i don't think that is creating any trouble.

    If your talking about uploading to Rapidshare.com without using a premium account then forget it because both the upload and download speeds are bound to fluctuate , even so you can use a software like DU Meter to check your actual upload and download speeds
    DU Meter Home Page
    I think the upload speed issue has to do with the cable break , try checking your upload speed after 4th of Jan if it's still a problem then contact CC

    bro the one the mention is in terms of kilobits not kilo bytes... generally download is 1/8th of the kilobits ur plan has and same or less 1/10 th upload ... check using firefox or any other browser . even p2p willl give same results....25-30kilobytes is the speed to expect for the 256kilobits connection(kbs)
