the airtel usb is a big failure, sorry to say..
but thy claim speeds of 236kbps, and what you get is hardl around 11 15kBps, 15 being the higest ever..
signal remains full, but dnld speeds are very bad..it will take you a whole day to dnld a 700mb movie!!

Its always better to invest on a wired connection rather than a wireless connection. Doesnt MTNL provide service in your area? U can opt for them.

I had similar response from Airtel when I inquired about a connection.

I opted for BSNL instead. I am happy with BSNL - in the past 1+ year, I had a two major issues when connection was down. But for the past six months, everything is working fine.

In Mumbai, you will have to deal with MTNL. Try them. If not, you can opt for Reliance or Tata Indicom.

If you don't want to be troubled by the hassles of limited downloads/time-perionds for downloading, go for an unlimited plan from reliance/tata.
If your usage is mainly for browsing & small work, go for mtnl.
