Thread: Airtel Brodband in Pune

Hi, Does any one one know if airte broadband is available in pune and if yes how is performance compared to othe esp bsnl?

I was checking on airtel site for coverage info but for Maharashtra circle with Pune city no information is provided.

Airtel is available mainly in the area around Pune Station, Camp, Swargate, Koregaon Park, NIBM, Viman nagar, etc. You should call their cc and find out whether it is available in your area.

I have been using BSNL only and I am fairly satisfied with it. I am subscribed to Home 500C+ plan and that gives me rent free landline plus free usage between 2 AM to 8 AM.

Now, it's also available in Gangadham and Bibvewadi - Kondhwa road area.

What's your location?

I am in Kothrud, Bhusari colony.

You need to check with Airtel Sales. Visit their website and you will get their phone number. Call them up.

But my guess is that Airtel is not available in Kothrud/Paud Road area.

I used to be in Hadapsar and the only connection I got was from BSNL, no other provider was willing to come that far

Might as well try BSNL, they have decent plans and good speeds

Hi, I enquired with airtel and they said they have connectivity in Kothrud at Bhusari colony, sales person would ocme to my place to give me details. So I will update once I have all information.

Airtel has recently incorporated Fair Usage Policy by which if u opt for an UL connection, then after a certain amount of download, your speed will be halved. Please maintain caution while opting for such services.. Also the 512kbps and 1mbps UL connections have been withdrawn.

yes ... avoid opting for airtel if your main requirements are high-speed and unlimited downloads ..

The sales person came to my house and told me that their line is just across the street, but they have to take permission to bring the box my side of street which will take a month or 2 at least. So I am thinking of going for BSNL. One question if I purchase modem from BSNL or outside do those work with Airtel if I go to Airtel in future?

I will say one thing - go with one vendor and stick to that vendor unless you have real issue. I can tell you that BSNL is very good for Broadband (at least in Pune). I had couple of issues - once in December,07 and then again in May,08 when BB was down for 10-12 days. Apart from that I have been getting flawless service. Many people believe that Airtel must be good because it is a private company and BSNL must be bad because it is govt. While Airtel is good, BSNL is better (in Pune), in my opinion.


Also BSNL has better plans that are more value for money.

To come back to your question, buy the modem from BSNL outright and it will be useful with Airtel also.

Well, I took the plunge yesterday and booked a connection. They told me it'd take 2 working days for them to find feasibility.

Anyone else who opted for Airtel in Dahanukar/Kothrud?

Apparantly no such luck - they told me there is no feasibility in Dahanukar and it will take a month for the Backend dept to provide the connectivity... :sigh: I'm looks like going to apply for Dataone...

That is the problem with Airtel - no connectivity.

BSNL is good. Why are you sighing for?

Its purely up to u , if there's feasibility in your area , I would suggest you go for Airtel , I have had a horrible experience with BSNL , no disrespect to the other guys using BSNL here , but if there's feasibility problem then opt for BSNL .
Opt for a good Unlimited plan from BSNL , 256 UL or 512 UL . Limited plans suck big time esp if ur a heavy downloader .

Cuz My Friend Uses it..
And speed Are Also Good
He Gets Around 265kbps......
