Thanks for the update. Only Airtel and Sify will be implementing the fair usage policy i guess.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Gary4gar again.

I hope that BSNL would not want to think on it.

Yeah, it would be easier for them.
as Home 500 says Speeds Upto 2mbps.
So, they can easily cap speed at 256kbps, we can't protest

Do any of you guys know whether there are any capping in anything now for BSNL users?

BSNL is already implementing something for congestion control.

There is something termed access-concentrators in every state. BSNL switches all users to some common access-concentrators by 2am. It means whenever we establish a connection after 1am and before 8am, we will get connected to the common access-concentrator. Since it happens to everyone, congestion occurs as only some of the concentrators are online and no matter how many times, we try reconnecting, we will get connected to such congested concentrators only.

After 8am, the traffic is routed normally using the concentrators present in the specific state(s). Hence we experience better speeds after 8am.

I had already heard that earlier.
That is only a limited time thing. I am having not much problem with it.

    Thumbs down dump airtel

I am facing the issue of slow internet on the 384 plan.

The idea seems to be they want the bandwidth to use for IPTV which can generate more income for Airtel.
    Very cunning idea..

U can switch to BSNL and enjoy tension free downloads as of today if it is available in your area. Only Sify and Airtel are in the scene with the Fair Usage Policy!! People should start ditching such ISPs, then only they will learn !!

please look at my post here (Airtel - No more Unlimited Plan !!)... then think what wrong have they done? they are just taking some advantage of the abismal state of bb here in india, still better than most other isps imho.

As of now only Airtel and Sify have come forward with this policy. Whether the rest of them follow, it...only time can tell

This policy has come like a blow for many subscribers who had opted for UL connection from Airtel. Besides they have discontinued 512kbps and 1mbps UL connections. I request all the members to checkout http://www.indiabroadband.net/airtel...ge-policy.html (Letter to TRAI and DOT about unfair "Airtel Fair Usage Policy".) and mail the officials.

don't call this my support please... its my indifference

damn i remember when i had a 64kbps sify connection, there was a 150mb limit for 7AM-11PM!!!, if u crossed the 150mb a whole day would be subtracted from your 30 days of internet use pack! i spent the 650bucks package in a week!
oooh how i like airtel now
