Talking Airtel have launched 8mbps unlimited plan

Airtel has launched 8 MBPS unlimited plan Not officially but indirectly. You can migrate the plan to 8 Mbps Combo 1299 and then use it as unlimited base. After crossing the data limit You will automatically registerd to Cap on billing and your bill will not exceed more than 2000
and your total bill come 1299+2000+your voice calls+taxes. It means your bill will come more than 3700rs. but it doesn't matter for those who download data in bulk AND those who want the quality.
Speed is too good and 1 thing i want to mention that
8 MBPS means you can download
1 MB in just 1 seconds
60 MB in just 1 minute
3600 MB in just 1 hour
And this is true because at present i am also using this plan and its really fantastic

I do not understand why they always induce cap-on-billing. The more the bill, the more the profits, right? Or is it done because people do not pay up the bills?

    Thanks for the information, btw

still very costly IMO. It needs to be 1/3 the cost for me to even think of it.

do we really need 8 mbps? even a stable 2 mbps connection is enough for all practical purposes

NO!! 2Mbps is not enough when you are into uploading as upload speed is not always the same as the download speed, especially when you are a webmaster it becomes a pain in the a** if the upload speed is ultra low

If u are a webmaster, then why invest on a ADSL connection? Cable internet with synchronous upload/download speeds calls for the job..

if only they come out with a simple 2mbps connection... but they can't even provide that at a good price let alone offer it in the first place.

what is the data cap on this 8mbps plan?

i think this explains the fair usage policy.

The same has been posted by other subscribers too. Once we reach the 2k ruppes cap, then we can request for migration to 8mbps plan. I wonder why they allow it? Doesnt this 8mbps plan have the fair usage policy restrictions?

airtel is just complicating things!!i wonder if all this recent hike in prices etc is because of the "internet being out of ip addresses by 2012" news...

Having better speeds is always preferable. I moved to US a couple of years ago and am exposed to 20Mbps connections here. I download movies in under 5 minutes!!!
    Full games like Sacred 2 (14 GB) from Direct2Drive < 15 mins !!!

Trust me guys , I had a 256 KBPS connection when in India ...and now I look back and see the ridiculous 1GB caps and the speeds and wonder why are we staying so behind others?
