Question How is Airtel Home 2222 (1 Mbps Unlim) Plan ?

    Hi

I am currently using Airtel 384Kpbs Unlimited plan. I get around 40-43 Kbps download speed for torrents and 45-50Kpbs while using IDM. I pay Rs 999+ Tax p.m.

I am planning to shift to 1 Mpbs Unlimited plan (Rs 2222 + Tax). Can anyone who is subscribing to this plan tell me what sorts of speeds you can get with this connection? Also is it worth the extra money ? And is it true that after downloading 100GB the speed will be reduced to 512 Kbps ?

    Thanks
    Rahul

You can expect speeds up to 120 KB/s with the 1 mbps plan. I cannot judge for you whether it is worth the extra money - but I consider this insanely expensive. With Service Tax it will be Rs. 2451 per month or nearly Rs. 30 K per year. You be your own guide. If you are using this purely to download movies then with 30K you can buy at least 50 original DVDs (English/Hollywood) @ Rs. 600 per DVD.

And yes. Airtel has implemented the "Fair Usage Policy" wherein your speed will be reduced to half after certain usage limit is reached.

Airtel once had a night usage top-up plan on "limited usage / fast speed" plans for Rs. 300 + tax. I believe that such schemes have stopped.

I am not sure about other providers. I believe that BSNL and MTNL are the only ISPs that are providing night unlimited usage.

if u want night ul plans u can opt for reliance broad net wired u will get speed as promised , i used lots of isp but reliance gives speed they advertise in my 400kbps plan i get 49.5kBps constant all time never dropped below 48.5 and its pure unlimited no caps on download and it comes through optic fiber for excellent connectivity and 0% latency what more u expect from an isp? night UL from reliance cost rs1800 excluding taxes.
