Default Use of Linksys Modems for Airtel

I have Switched from BSNL to Airtel due to the excessive Line problems added to that their crappy customer care . I have got the line just today afternoon and i currently happy at the speed that they provide.

Since i was using My own modem for the BSNL connection i had the luxury of using the Linksys AM300 along with the Wifi router Dlink DI-524, So basically i have a wireless network at home which uses the modem as a gateway

I even have a wifi- webcam from Dlink and a VOip adapter from Linksys

These guys from the Airtel have told me that there is some mac based filtering done at the server and hence i can't have the other modems atleast for some time. But i think its a crap since i know few who are using their own Dlink and linksys modem and even netgear modems/routers.

I guess there is a way for me to use the very stable Linksys AM300 along with the routers.

FYI these guys have provided me with the beetel 110 BX1.
Hope someone here helps me get back the very old Stable Modem

BTW airtel Connection seems to be Cool , I'm loving it but it would have been better if i have the network working too

Please see "Broadband How to......." forum
    for similar set up.
    option 1:
    Use the Beetel110BX1 + DI 524 ( *only WIFI router I hope )
else ( may be no change. in DI524 old settings)
Input rj45 from Beetel to WAN port of Di524.
Another rj45 from DI524 to computer.
    or wifi mode.

    Or
    option 2:
Linksys AM300 along with the Wifi router Dlink DI-524,
Just change VPI VCI as 1 and 32. Enable DHCP.
enter Airtel userID and PW in WAN page.
    will work.

    Option 3 : keep 110BX1 as standby .
    Save settings to harddisk.

Its working for the time being only in this mode. All that i wanted is to use the AM300 modem instead of it.

I have no option of keeping that 110BX1 as the main modem, will try to use the AM300 only... since this is a free modem will keep it as the backup modem only and might use it only if the other modem isn't working..

could anyone please tell me about the mac based filtering done at airtel servers ??? I guess there is a way to break it too

Well After having a look at many post concerning the Firmware upgrade at various Other international forums i came to a conclusion that

    Linksys AM300's firmware 1.19.04 = Fail
It often results in Over-clocking the Device and results in Heating and hence frequent disconnections and resets of the settings and often problem of missing Port forwarding setting occur.

    Solution : (Temporary solution)
Downgrading the Firmware to 1.19.02 (the 2007's version)

I've no disconnection problem ever since i downgraded the firmware and its as stable as any other Stable Modem.

    @essbebe:
Thanks for helping me with the settings
