Default Airtel blocks UDP

I have an airtel broadband unlimited plan 256 residential. I use a bridged connection. So port forwarding is not required.

I am unable to connect to a remote MS SQL Server on a hosted location. When I go to my office , which has leased line , connection is a breeze goes through. Also I use a reliance data card sometimes in my laptop, the connection goes through.

But with airtel broadband I see in the ethereal traces that SQL Management Studio sends packets ( UDP probe but there is no friggin response from the server. ( Windoze XP firewall is dsabled )

After checking with the airtel guys, they tell me that they dont block any traffic so not really sure what the issus is . Anybody have a clue ??

IN dialer mode as you say all ports are open.
Check Access control page of the modem.
any service unchecked ?

check required port is open.

Well I finally found a page that has the answer. It's easy. You add a comma and the port number to the end of the server name.

So if you want to connect to MySqlServer.MyDomain.com on port 3821, you type...

MySqlServer.MyDomain.com,3821

That's it!

Santiago,

By default MS SQL Server uses TCP 1433 port unless you change it. Are you able to telnet to that sql server on the specific port?
