    is your connection new?

Incase of old connection and as you face problem in ethernet too, did you check with firewall or any service blocking your internet traffic?

    r u able to ping yahoo.com?
what is the status of DSL/ADSL in your wifi router page (connected or disconnected)?

If you are getting disconnected or facing same issues with ethernet cable too then please check DSL/ADSL link on your router for any signal drop.

If DSL/ADSL link remains solid green and never goes flashing then you may need to check firewall setting on computer which can stop traffic flow.

WPA is more secured than WEP. If i remember properly, WEP is the first encryption standard for wireless.

So for securing your wireless network
    1. In your modem configuration page, set stronger password in WPA. (check here to see whether your password is stronger or weaker Password checker)

    2. Set your SSID hidden (For advanced users). This will hide your wireless network when anyone search for wireless network. If anyone wants to connect, then you have to tell them your SSID to manually connect to it. (Password also required).

    3. I recommend to keep this Key Renewal value as default in the modem settings. A key is negotiated between your computer and modem at initial connection and this will be again negotiated for every key renewal period to generate new key. So if you reduce time, unnecessarily modem and your computer has to renew keys very frequently.

    4. If you still want to secure your wireless network, enable MAC based address filtering (if your modem supports) and allow only your MAC address to register and not any others. (Advanced Users)

    5. For still more secured, block all IP address range except your computers to connect to router. (Advanced Users)

RADIUS option provides you to authenticate user to RADIUS server. This requires you to build a radius server in your network which stores all username and password. RADIUS provides lot of security options like password period option, locking account for wrong attempts and many.

    1. Setting WAP password:

If you browse your 96338W WIFI Modem (probably http://192.168.1.1), navigate to Wireless Security option (see similar screenshot 1.jpg from my modem) to set your password.

    2. Setting strong password for your modem:
Navigate to Administration (see similar screenshot 2.jpg) and set strong password.

    is it supportive?
