Airtel will provide you better support and less jammed circuits. So consequently your brosing/downloading speeds will be right up there as what is promised - maybe even a shade better. BSNL also gives good speeds but their user base is much more than Airtel and hence there is network clogging.

But ... and there is always a but ...

- Airtel is costlier than BSNL
- As started by KK above, Airtel has implemented "Fair Usage Policy"
- Airtel does not provide unlimited night usage any more

As far as BSNL is concerned, the customer care simply does not exist. But when the connection is working, it is great. If it goes down, then expect downtime for at least two weeks (usually more).

BSNL is also improving their customer care. The main problem of BSNL is non availability of new generation techies at field level. Now they are recruiting in bulk to bridge this gap. Hope within a short period things will go better.

If cost is not an issue, you can try Airtel. BSNL 500 plans offers night unlimited @ 2 Mbps which Airtel fails to provide. Having a BSNL net connection is much better than owning a BSNL mobile but cannot match Airtel's customer care. It depends on your location. At some places, BSNL is good.

I have been getting excellent support and speed from BSNL. But not all are so lucky. Also being technically minded helps.
