ok so you're talking about that... sry didn't get it at first.

look man i also had to wait for it for about 2 years until it came to my area , and i live at Dwarka, South West Delhi... pretty good area. but this doesn't mean that you can't find another isp in your area, though probably they won't be as good. and yes we all know that airtel has very little penetration. but we can't do anything about it.

PS: i seriously recommend against giving any kind of money to them before they have laid the groundwork, in the hopes of them starting operations in your area.

This is true. This is also exactly what they told me.

It is not entirely not Airtel's fault. To provide connections, they need to lay down underground cables. For that they have to dig and civil authorities do not give permission to dig - especially the roads.

I can't blame the civil authorities also because it has been observed that when the road is dug, it is not resurfaced properly.

In US and Europe, underground cables can be owned by any company but the service can be provided by any provider. For instance, AT&T may own the cable but you could opt for service from Verizon. TRAI may make similar laws here soon and then BSNL will have to lease their lines to others (this is akin to the ATM usage bill).

As I stated, the problem is not entirely a fault of the ISPs. The civic authorities are not giving permissions to dig.

    • If you are technically related person who require use of svn & to download src.
    • You will never apply for it because of their FUP.

Dont blame every related issue with CIVIC authorities. AIRTEL provides Broadband and can do better than that. If they cannot establish a network, which supports and penetrates different locations, then what is the point.

I honeslty HATE airtel for their own wrong doings. They can provide WIMAX, and they DO, but only for ENTERPRISE customers. What is worng with going for Individual customers.

AIRTEL has come out with a new ANSWER this time. For the people who has got feasibility in their area, AIRTEL says PORTS are full. What were they thinking??? I met around 6 to 7 airtel marketing guys and they all have the same answer. What a waste. Guys honestly, airtel is not going anywhere with this. Its about time other ISP's gets serious and take the majority share. Phew...

    WOW...rhetoric

Yes, maybe you are right:nono:, but hey how many people do understand the possibility of getting a good ISP at work

Given the fact of all the marketing campaigns and the amount of technological quote these ISP's provide....end result is, we are still searching for an ISP to install and provide reliable service :taz:

Guys, Airtel needs to work on this problem of theirs...
I applied for a connection only to find out that there's no feasibility.. The closest airtel connection near my place was just 500 meters away.. Cant they extend their service till my place..

    I never faced this problem!!

Infact when they launched their service in my city they used to come every day to our houses to persuade us to get their service!! I dont remember if I was using BSNL or Tata indicom at that time!! I found their(airtel) rates good and opted for it and have never looked back!! Very happy with their services!! now this was some 3-4 years back!! But still there are many areas in our city where airtel doesnt provide service and I can understand that it can indeed be very frustrating for people when they cant get such good service just bcoz they live on the opposite side of road while their neighbour continues to enjoy it!!!!!

I think it is because they are spreading line only after profiting & seeing feasibility. Its not BSNL or MTNL which is there for social work.
