Thumbs up airtel broadband to boom

The Bharti Airtel has challenged the Indian Broadband market by cutting the cost in their Broadband tariffs.

As from now the internet user would able to surf at a 1Mbps speed by paying just Rs. 1,699, which is Rs. 100 more than the current 512 Kbps tariff. As From now the 512Kbps tariff will cost Rs. 1,099 which is Rs. 200 more than 256Kbps tariff.

Now in just Rs. 1,699, user will be offered 1Mbps speed, along with a free VAS pack from Airtel worth up to Rs. 500 every month. This package will include Games on Demand, Anti-Virus software PC Secure, Airtel Speed on Demand, and Online Desktop.

While the Rs.1,099 per month, tariff user will be offered a 512 Kbps broadband speeds along with Rs. 100 worth of free call value per month.

Not so much boom as in bust?Airtel really has to do away with their fair usage policy..there's a cap of 100gb total usage on an unlimited 1mbps plan.Following which, the speed is halved! This is most unfair. And this policy is not even clearly explanied on their website.I call their customer care and they have no clue either!
Airtel should wake up and realise not all their customers are plain duffers. So,people, read the fine print, when it comes to offers that sound really good.

I agree but for some people like me 100 gb is more than enough. What do you do that 100 gb limit is crossed?

Airtel applied FUP on unlimited plans @ > 256 kbps only.

The speed is not capped below 256 kbps but you may get a warning and they may suspend the account. TRAI has allowed this.

No, no, that's not possible, there's no 100 GB CAP. Airtel being such a reputable and respectable conglomerate, cannot do such a thing, they would surely mention it in their terms and conditions of the plan.

Please give proof of your statement since I just got this plan and would like to know.

Dude read abt the fairuse policy from the airtel website , you will understand. they know it will take some time for TRAI to quote this illegal. but they make good profits

Actually the person was not talking about the FUP he was talking abt the 100gb limit!

The website clearly mentions that day speed will be reduced after the 75 gb Bandwidth is increased but there is nowhere mentioned that night speed will be reduced after 100gb!! And I guess some CC representative have wrong info thats why they are saying it!!

Airtel can land in serious trouble if they dont mention abt the 100 gb night time cap and still apply it!! No prob with 75 gb day time cap as they have already mentioned it!!

BSNL has given a statement saying that they will be soon announcing their new plans & the tariff for the new plans would be less than their competitors.

    The PRICE WAR has started...

In a Price war one competitor will lower its price, then others will lower their prices to match. If one of them reduces their price again, a new round of reductions starts. In the short-term, price wars are good for consumers, who can take advantage of lower prices.

I'm using this connection and I'm happy whatever the 100gb or 75gb cap is.

The biggest problem with Airtel and Reliance Broadband (wired) is last mile connectivity. Very often you find out that they cannot provide you a connection.

I am not even commenting upon plan speeds, costs, customer care, etc. which may be good or bad.
