UPDATE: Just received a call from Airtel CC. Plan has been discontinued and migration won't be done. (Bangalore)

Explore 1099 Plan has NOT been discontinued

Bad News :
==========
For Pune , Explore 1099 Plan now has a Bandwidth cap of 75 GB during the day time .

I called up CC and asked them if the new or old plan will be accplicatble for me , the old Explore 1099 Plan didnt have FUP on it . They said that I will get a conformation call from the Sales Team on Monday . Lets see what happens , hoping they will say no , fingers crossed !
I thought that the Explore 1099 plan was a very good deal and called up their CC today to get a few clarifications.

First: The website says that there is a 75GB FUP cap. However, the supervisor that I spoke to insisted that the 384Kbps Explore 1099 plan did NOT have a FUP cap, according to the "latest" info with her. I am not entirely sure which one (website or CC) to believe

Second: I inquired if the 75GB limit (assuming it is applicable) takes into consideration downloads made between 10pm-6am @1Mbps. She said that ONLY downloads made during the day (6am-10pm) will count towards the limit.

Third: Even after the FUP limit is in effect, the night download speed will remain unaffected @1Mbps.

If the above is true, then a quick calculation tells me that the 75 gig limit is breached approximately around the 28th day of the month, if you are downloading non-stop for the 16hr "daytime" period at full capacity. Which implies that the FUP will be applicable for only the last couple of days in a month. I think that makes this plan particularly cost-effective FUP or no FUP.

Could anyone please check and tell me if the information I was given is incorrect?

Thanks

Whatever happens , make sure that you send an email to CC for clarification on this Plan , about 15 days ago when Explore 1099 came out on the Airtel website , PUNE it didnt haven any FUP attached to it , I opted for this plan on the 22nd of July and it was activated on the 26th , so theoretically, even if they change / withdraw the plan later on I should enjoy this plan without FUP but you never know what Airtel can do / say , I still have to wait for a call from the Airtel Sales department for conformation on the same , different CC agents will tell u different things , some say that if you cross the 75GB limit than your speed throught the day and night will be rationed by 50% (256 Kbps Day / 512 Kbps Night beyond 75 GB ) , some others say that only the Day speed will be reduced by 50%, and the night speed will remain untouched, so I am not sure whose word to trust , just remember , anything said verbally can be easily denied later , however , if this Supervisor you are referring to can send you an email conforming that FUP is not applicable then tomorrow Airtel cannot change their word tomorrow saying that it was human error on the side of this Supervisor , if it's on an email then it can be submitted in court (it has legal consequences) .
I am fairly nervous , I don't want the Airtel Sales dept to say , sorry sir , we can no longer provide you with the Explore 1099 (NO FUP Plan) , Admin , can you please suggest any other way I can fight back than the ones mentioned below if the Sales team converts my Plan to the New one with FUP of 75 GB !!! .

Moreover at the rate at which I download I will consume 75 GB in 5 days , I upload more than I download . (Torrent Box - Intel Atom 230 / Total Power Consumption = Under 50 W)

=============================
Amateurish Ways To Fight Back :
=============================
1) At the time I opted for this plan Explore 1099 didnt have FUP, they have no right to change my plan without my consent
2) CC gave me assurance that this plan does not have FUP I was still reluctant to migrate to this plan fearing some hidden clauses , to clear all my doubts , they even sent me a screenshot conforming that this plan doesn't have FUP what so ever , Then are now cheating me by converting this plan to the new one with 75 GB FUP.
3) I got a call from 2 people from the Sales teams promising me that this plan doesnt have FUP what so ever .
4) If they still insist I can threaten to surrender my connection , but Airtel will just say yes sir go ahead with the cancellation , what difference will it make if they lose 1 customer !!!

I really DO NOT WANT TO move to any other ISP , Airtel is a keeper , P-E-R-I-O-D .

The anticipation of the Sales Team's response is killing me from the inside even when writing this post , I know that this sounds very amateurish , but admin I could really use your help !!! :sad: :48: :scared:

@ above 2 posts!!

This is what I believe is correct and will be applied-

1.) there will be 75 Gb DL limit including DL+UL + day usage + night usage + everything. ( @ Jake it may not apply in your case )

2.) If the limit is breached day speed will be reduced but night speed will remain at 1 mbps.

Angry Explorer 1099 plan discontinued / withdrawn

I checked with Airtel (Bangalore) today morning and found that they have discontinued with their Explorer 1099 plan due to some technical problems. I guess they were getting too many BB plan upgrade requests.

However, they are offering a new Turbo Speed plan of 512kbps unlimited for Rs 1099/- monthly rental.

Hope this helps.

^You are talking about swift 1099 plan.....512kbps speed with 100GB[download+upload] cap. After crossing 100 Gb the speed will reduce to 256kbps. With a TRUE unlimited connection You can transfer upto 300GB+ data with this speed.

I aslo had applied for explorer 1099 plan but few days later they said they discontinued it and tried to give me speed 1099 plan. I didn't take it and I am waiting for bsnl to announce new plans. They provide true unlimited connections....no FUP.
