Thread: Problem with yahoo IM protocol....

So I was using Pidgin for all im networks. Now i've shifted to Trillian astra.

The problem is that when i'm chatting with a yahoo buddy, the messages just stop coming from his/her side and then arrive in a clump some time later. I noticed this crappy behavior in Pidgin as well as Trillian.

Now since the same issue is there with both of these clients (Trillian being a very well developed closed source app), and nobody else reporting this bug anywhere else, it makes me wonder is it a problem with Airtel??? Can someone please test it out as well?? Its getting on my nerves! Thanks!

is this the cause of the problem???

in the pidgin site it says "Yahoo issues are fixed in 2.5.8. "
which implies there were certain issues earlier.
try the latest pidgin version.

i've tried every version from 2.5.8 - 2.4... the problem even stay with Trillian (which i shifted to due to other serious bugs with pidgin).

USE QIP...its a small software... located at http://download.qip.ru/qipinfium9030.rar (not in Russian)

its happening for the past 3 days i think....

the timing out of the ping is there for every website every IM network (with the above stated problem for gtalk as well)... everywhere... so i guess this is a network issue?

I have seen one of my ex office colleagues use Mozilla InstantBird. Have anyone got any idea how that is.

no i don't know about that but i do know that Trillian Astra RAWKS! no bugs found unlike pidgin.... n highly customizable with a lot of features! :thumbup:

yahoo messenger is not working...

turns out that the torrent client (even while paused), was the problem. as soon as i exit it, the connection behaves again... peace!
