Default Technical Reason for Speed Spikes ?

    I am on the Explore 1099 Plan [ 384 Kbps Day / 1 Mbps Night ]

Is there any technical reason why I would be getting 2.2 Mbps constantly [Day & Night] for 3 days now ? usually spikes last few hours or at best , half a day .

How often in a month do Airtel Users get speed spikes , Admin , I know that this question has been asked here a million times , you can close this thread if you find it inappropriate , but I am just interested to know what other people think the reasons of spikes are , and how make them last longer !

Some of the reasons I can think about is

Firewall Being pulled down for maintenance, but then everyone attached to that exchange would get a speed spike & happily suck the bandwidth , my neighbor using Airtel didng get a spike at all .

Anyone can think of any other reasons

I am strictly going to ignore comments that state "and the point of this thread is ?"
