    yes, they recently introduced the plans. You may have to change your old plans. Or they will continue charging you more for lower speeds.

    Dude I dont even know why you are worried about speed with it comes to Airtel , I got the Explore 1099 Plan and here is what I get on a normal day

    Explore 1099 Plan [384 Kbps Day / 1 Mbps Night]

    Day = 58 to 65 KBps [464 Kbps to 520 Kbps]
    Night = 144 to 160 KBps [1.12 Mbps to 1.25 Mbps]
    Once a month I get a spike where the speed goes to 2 Mbps , sometimes on some days I have even got 6 Mbps but disregarding the speed spikes Airtel still rocks !!!

    Airtel usually gives 15% more speed than it promises , if you have any doubts I can post screenshots .

    Please make sure you are following the link mentione below to be sure if Turbo 1299 is available in Delhi , as a rule of thumb avoid advertisements on the main page as they can be only for particular cities

    well they are right on the speed thingie...and sice i mentioned earlier that i have taken this connection recently...i get a call from a rep today welcoming me to the "plan". What comes as a shocker is that she very clearly told me that if reach 100GB within a span of 30 days (billing cycle) my speed will be halved i.e. 512 becomes 256...Well that was not what the word "unlimited" means....and why dont they explain these hidden clauses @the inception of the connection ? I clearly told the person that if they are going to reduce the speed then they should bill me @the reduced rate tariff too...you cant have your cake and eat it too...

    Its because of Fair Use Policy, how much do you download in a month anyway ? and this limit is only for the Day time ,
    Night 1 Mbps is still unlimited, the way I see it , it's a win-win situation for you buddy, it's not like you have to pay anything extra if you cross 100GB in the Day ,
    100 GB day time limit is very reasonable, I guess you do your downloading at the night time anyway

    Following is the clause for Turbo 1299 plan for your City.

    *Day time 6 AM to 10 PM (512 Kbps till 100 GB,256 Kbps beyond 100 GB). Night time 10 PM to 6 AM - 1 Mbps.

    If I were you I would go for this plan !!!

    Total Cost = Rs 1300 + 10.3% = Rs 1434

    Am one of those guys whose laptop never shuts down...i guess that 100GB thingie includes the torrent upload and download : because if im not downloading...im seeding (give back as much as you get) so im sure to hit that figure pretty soon..i do have that plan...but my point is that this is NOT explained to the customer over the counter...i mean it pretty much pays to be aware right ? 1350 by standards is a premium and labelling it 'unlimited' without any caps is not what it really is...im just talking about the transparency here

    I am actually surprised! When I got the Explore 1099 plan the CC told me atleast 2 times about the badnwidth cap. It was also mentioned on the website. After reading your post I checked the website again and find they have changed the layout a little bit and they dont mention about the limit unless you click the fair use policy. Now that is wrong as no new customer would get a dream that he has to click on it!!!! Its either the carelessness of the CC that he didnt tell you about the bandwidth cap earlier or maybe it is a new strategy from airtel (which looks unlikely).

    Having said that still the plan is very good. If you decide to scrap it what other options have you got in this price?? Also I got airtel quite few years back when they were going door to door selling their connections!! Do they charge installion charges now?? If not you can anytime cancel the plan and go for some other 1. Whats good about this plan is that the NIGHT SPEED never changes!! and there night time from 10pm to 6 am keeps continuing well over 7 am!!

    When I joined Airtel little over a year ago , they charged me 1000 bucks as installation charge & the modem but the same was reimbursed in the 1st months bill so effectively the modem / wifi router was free back then, dunno how it is now , anyone care to comment !!!

    I think you should write to wecare.west@airtel.in about the inconvenience you faced !

    I have an Intel Atom Torrent Box running Ubuntu and uTorrent , I haven't turned it on for over 3 months now , so I completely understand your concert , I am telling you that the worst-case-scenario is that you day speed will be reduced to 256 Kbps from 512 Kbps , night still stays 1 Mbps unlimited , trust me it's not all that bad , but yeah CC should have informed you about the catch. Lucky when I went for the Explore 1099 plan then weren't advertising Bandwidth Caps on the website

    so jake does that mean...at your time of taking the connection, since you did not have the caps...the same holds for you now ?? i mean will your connection be ever halved after crossing 100 gigs ? and i assume 100 gigs is upload/download...so now even seeding is a problem ?

    Well i have 1299 plan and here's what i think, you would never reach 100 gb unless u are using Bittorrent.It is this reason Airtel brought this policy.

    I never have reached even 40gb with my download .I have even maintained how much is being downloaded on my side,unless you are downloading 24 hours a day then only you would reach that limit.I have never reached that limit and even airtel has said rarely one reaches that limit.And if you do ,you might be downloading illegal content like movies,games,music,software.

    I would recommend 512 plan/1mbps plans.

    Yeah...you're spot on...im one of those virtual netizens who live 24 hours online downloading stuff. True..i havent hit 100 GB yest...but i get a little more than halfway...i own a blueray player and i keep downloading mkv's. As you might be knowing the 1080p variants starts 9-13 gigs...so that does take up most of my list on utorrent...
    secondly...in calcutta...the plans have been changed...there are only 2 unlimited plans..1399 and 1999 for 1Mbps and 2Mbps with a fair usage policy of 25 and 30 gig respectively...so if i change the plan...i lose the 100 gig advantage in my current plan. Strange...since the 1299 and 1699 plan is still very much active in places like delhi

    Well like you said u do would 90% not reach that 100gb landmark.The Airtel website does mention 1099 plan but it is quite surprising airtel has given only 20gb limit for this plan.That would be quite disappointing ...It like area to area priority it seems.I have IPTV and I pay 1499 with 512/1mbps and 100gb limit.
