Airtel customer support and Tech support is horrible! Moreover they should learn some basics of professional ethics and honesty. I have been suffering from Airtel speed problem; i'm on a 2MBPS plan and have been paying accordingly. But ever since i have taken this plan max speed i saw was 1.5 MBPS sometimes. The speed varies so widely that it goes down to 100 odd kbps. Most of the times it's horribly slow! Finally, i lodged a complain the tech support guy came to my home and tried what not! But he had no clue about the problem. Later he said it could be their back-end problem and he would check and get back. After one week, no response i call back to enquire the status of the ticket. I come to know it's very nicely closed. Tech support guy said the problem is resolved! The Back-end (tech) guy mentioned in the closing note that he called me to intimate about the resolution and sent me an SMS too. Whereas i never got a call or an SMS from them.

So...this is what Airtel is all about! I find myself very helpless because i think nobody is sincerely listening to the customer!!

Default Airtel - Worst service

Hi all,

Here is trail of mails given below that would give a clear picture on how the customer service at Airtel is ::

Mail sent to Airtel Customer care
Hi,
I would like to place a request to stop processing my Airtel Broadband application dated 28 March 2009.

From the very next day, I have been calling the sales person and other technicians to have my broadband setup. But the only answer is that it will be done today or tomorrow. For past 1 week, I have been waiting at home for a technician to visit. I have been following up soo many times and have stayed at home the whole week from morning 9 to 12:30 and have been goging to my work place only in the afternoon. Every time when I called, I was told that technician is on the way and will reach my home in 20 mins or 30 mins. I am fedup of getting all these false promises and I feel as if I am being cheated. Inspite of my busy schedule, I have wasted my time for all these false hopes. I can't bear this anymore. I have other better things to proceed with. So if anything good that you could do for me now is to stop processing the application and return the payment of Rs.1000 which I gave as cheque. Cheque has been processed and Rs.1000 is debited from my account.
Here are the details furnished below:

Name: Arunkumar Narendran

Airtel Customer Account No: 833717

Application Date: 28/03/2009

Broadband plan applied for: Value combo 799 (Unlimited 256Kbps)

Reply from Airtel::

until then.

For further assistance, please
· Call us at 044 - 44444121
· E-Mail us at - Care.Tamilnadu@airtel.in
· Fax us at 044 - 42112233

Durga
Customer Care

Mail to Airtel for second time::

Hi,

In the reply mail below, I see that your team is working on the request regarding new connection.
I would again like to stress the point that I will not be able to take up the service that you offer. If you further take steps in setting up the new broadband connection I will not be responsible for any further payments for the service that I never use and wanted for. Better stop with this and start taking steps towards returning my payment(Rs.1000). I can't keep waiting for anyone from your side and wasting my time. Moreover, if this the type of customer service you offer, if this is the way the company welcomes a new customer, then I am really afraid on how the situations during the problems are addessed. Let me take the inconvenience that you have caused to me last week as a alert given to me and let me get away from Airtel forever. Thanks for the alert !!

With regards,
Arunkumar Narendran.

2nd Reply from Customer care::

Dear Mr. Arunkumar Narendran,

Thank you for writing to Airtel Telemedia Services.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and the
delay.

We sincerely regret for the inconvenience cause during the process of new
connection. We would like to inform you that clarity we received from the
technical department due to Trenching issue, counsellor problem at your
premises connection will be made at the earliest intimation regarding the
same has been forwarded to our engineer. We request you to kindly bear with
us until then.

For further assistance, please
· Call us at 044 - 44444121
· E-Mail us at - Care.Tamilnadu@airtel.in
· Fax us at 044 - 42112233

Assuring you of our best of services at all times.

Yours sincerely,
Mahalakshmi.S

Final Mail from me to Airtel::

Hi,

This is the again for the third day, third mail, I am writing to you to stop taking any steps in setting up the new broadband connection for me. Pls don't reply me back asking me to bear for another 2 days giving me some reason. I have been clearly mentioning starting form my first mail to stop the process and return my payment. I would once again make it very clear that I will not be responsible for any further payments even if any connections are setup. From my side I assure that the service provided by you will never be used by me even that is forced in delaying the process and finally setting up.
I just wanted to know on when the payment will be returned. Let this be the last mail and expect a positive reply with details on return payment and no more regret mails. Also I would like to mention that these mails that go to and fro are published on Indiabraodband forum on the internet and on the intranet pages of my company. Let people know about the way the service is provided by Airtel. Don't complicate much and that would lead in further damge to your brand name as thousands of people might be reading only the reply without any actions (regret mails) on the internet and on my company's intranet. Expecting atleast a positive closure of this case.

Thanks

With regards,
Arunkumar Narendran

The main difference between private ISPs (Airtel, Tata-Indicom, Reliance, etc.) and government owned ISP (BSNL/MTNL) is that, that private ISPs collect all money upfront and then promise to connect you up within a specified time. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not. More often than not, they collect payment for at least three to six months upfront.

In case BSNL/MTNL, they connect first and then ask payment later - especially true when you already have an existing landline. But in case of BSNL/MTNL - you have to pay for modem, installation, deposit, etc.

Be it as it may, I feel more comfortable in "deliver first, pay later".

Default Airtel Cheater

Hi! I am from Bangalore...I recently upgraded to wi-fi and at that time i was told that i could use 1000 bucks of speed on demand for free. i even talked to the customercare and confirmed this. today when i called them they said that the offer closed last month itself. i told them that they are the ones to have given me wrong information and i upgraded to wi-fi only bcz of this offer. They said they are sorry and took it down as a complaint but i dont think that they are gonna do anything about it. Can anyone suggest what should I do ?

Dear jr.ritesh - I totally agree with your message, Airtel's customer service is pathetic. I lodged a complaint in the month of January and it got resolved only in the month of May. But now I have made a wise decision to make a shift to BSNL. I have heard a lots of appreciation from BSNL users as the service of this Government Venture has improved a lot and I'm also one amongst those satisfied users now...

Dear Ashok20204 - Thanks for your suggestion...
