Arrow Unable to open a website with Airtel

    Hello everyone.

I've recently got Airtel broadband connection. 256 kbps Unlimited connection.
My problem is that whenever I try to open a site.
    I get a message as network time-out.

However, if i try to open that using a proxy-site, then it opens!
So, is the problem with the modem or Airtel or site... what exactly is the problem?

I'll be happy if anyone can help me out here.

Just for information, I have Beetel 110TC1 ADSL2+ Modem.
And connection is set to always-on in the modem configuration.

I'll be very grateful if anyone can help.

Strange, I've same connection as yours from Airtel in Bangalore. However, I can access the site. Change your DNS servers to OpenDNS. Search this forum for the steps to change to OpenDNS. Use the search box.

I agree with you itsmemad, 9 times out of 10 this would be caused due to DNS. Changing your DNS setting to may be open DNS or some other free DNS service should resolve this issue provided your isp does not block those ips where this site is hosted.

    Ok, I'll go through it.

One question, how do I know, which DNS server address should I use?

I'll go through the open DNS part, and report back.

    Thanks for the help.

    One more question.
Is the changing to openDNS part common for all the service providers?
Or does it change according to different ISP's and different models of modem?

Sorry for the questions, but I've got less knowledge on this topic.

At some place, I found about changing the MTU to a specific decimal value for PPPoE/PPPoA
I tried out that, it didnt workout.

I'll try the openDNS part. Just let me know which servers to use.

    @meetdilip

    Tried it out.
    It doesn't work!
    That site still wont open.

I cannot provide the name coz the admin doesn't allow to post warez site names.

    1. Google the site name and then try to open from Google search results

    2. Use a proxy

    Already tried it out.
    It doesn't open from google.

    Using a proxy, it opens.

I wrote that in the first post itself that the site I want to open, opens with a proxy-site, but not directly.

Which mode are you in ? PPPoE or Bridge. In case of Bridge mode, you need to change the DNS setting in dialler properties.

As of now, I have encountered only one site that gives me error.
I dont know if there are more of them.

About the URL, I did paste it, but the admin does not allow the URL of warez sites, so I cannot post it again.

If you want to know which site it was, go to google and search for warez
In the results page, it will be the second URL(ends as .org)

    1. Tried to change address of DNS servers, but I think my modem does not use the address I set in TCP/IP properties.
I might need to figure out something about that.

    2. I've set the MTU to 1492 in registry on Windows. In case of modem, there is no such option of setting/changing MTU

    I have Beetel 110TC1 ADSL2+ Modem.
And connection is set to always-on in the modem configuration
    option 1:
You can try "Dialer Mode for testing.
    Option 2 :
In modem advanced WAN change MTU in the page
( may be available beetel 220bx110Bx series)
where you have entered your USERID PW.
    save reboot.

    Option 3 :
Check your Windows Firewall or other firewall
    setting. Add to exception/s.
Airtel does not block any port or website.
    Test "
    Start
    RUn type cmd Ok
    New window
Type tracert www.abcd.com( your web site)

    see where it gets lost.
    copy paste data here.

    2. nothing's blocked from firewall.
    3. did the trace route part. It gets lost at airtel itself. Posting here:

    119.42.146.34
This IP is being shared among many domains.
To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser.
After resetting the modem: ( similar hardware board and menu pages)
    h t t p://mydataone.net/dialer/utstar300r2unew.html
    check your web site.
    Then
    h t t p://mydataone.net/router/utstar300r2unew.html
    Feedback.

I didnt get what you're trying to say in the first part... about sharing..etc

I checked the other 2 links...
some options are similar, but there are a few which I am not sure what to do.

    eg:
Dynamic Route is set to RIP2-B

Multicast is set to IGMP v2 (whereas in the above links you gave, it tells to disable this... maybe thats for BSNL not for Airtel. I'm not sure though)

ATM QOS is set to UBR

    in Virtual Circuit PVC0,
    VPI is 1
    and VCI is 32
    (In above links, I think its 1 and 35) [??? ]

    ... not getting anywhere...
