Do you get 128KB/s? My friend said that he gets more than 300KB/s in 2 Mbps.
<75KB/s
75-100KB/s
100-115KB/s
115-128KB/s
>128KB/s

In matter of speeds airtel is better than bsnl, i have an airtel connection in B'lore with 2Mbps speed.
I always get a speed more than 2Mbps in speedtest.net
For any service basic infrastructure matters a lot.
On Torrents = Between 131 to 145 KBps
On Direct Download = Between 128 to 150 KBps
On Direct Downloads with Download Accelerators = 138 to 165 KBps
There have been times when the speed has shot up close to 200 KBps but this has happened only during off-peak hours.
On Airtel ive noticed up to 15% speed hikes compared to the advertised speeds .

I LUV Airtel :winkiss:
mostly those are speeds you get and for me for torrents it is a bit more like 100-200 kbps
You get 145KB/s in torrents in unlimited plan? (Freedom 1699)
ok..that should be quite enough for especially unlimited plan which many users will be using at the time
What speeds do you get after FUP is applied?
pretty much same speed even after applying FUP, no considerable change though
howwwwwwwwwwwwww ?? I am on airtel 1mbs plan I get only 121kB/sec on torrents nd this is like very high seeded torrents...nd I have a green icon on utorrent.
r u using dialup broadband or ur always connected to net nd u dont need to put in any user name nd password??
wht modem are u using??
plz help out here
Hi
I am confused with the speed ratio
What ever the plan is the speed sucks
On the 1 Mbps plan the theoretical maximum speed you can get is 128KBps [1024/8], all of this depends on a lot of factors ,
Signal Quality - SNR ,
Line Quality ,
Distance of your telephone line from the main junction box outside your house , etc etc .
121 KBps is pretty good speed for 1Mbps plan.
Here are my plan & modem details
Modem = Beetel 220 BXI ADSL 2+ Modem [Provided by Airtel]
Plan = Explore 1099 [Discontinued] [384 Kbps ~Day - 1Mbps ~Night]
Mode = PPPoE [Always On] the user-name and password details are stored in the modem itself.

Also few may disagree with me but I have done extensive tests and have found out that at night when Airtel offer 1 Mbps speed (Explorer 1099 plan) the speed of upload affects the speed of Download.....If you set the upload speed to Unlimited the download is bit slow.....and if you reduce the upload speed the DL speeds picks up!!
So this might be the reason why you get around 120 Kbps speed.
The UL speed doesnt have any effect on DL speed during day time when the speed is 384 Kbps.
When using DDL sites the speed is around 150 Kbps.
@jakemake
What are your SNR and Attenuation values?
Your SNR is not good!!Ask your telephone guy from airtel to correct it.I had gotten my IPTV connection not 1mbps plan during day but the SNR is really bad.It shud be around 15-20 downstream.Mine is 28 thats y i can get IPTV.
This is just a suggestion and might not have anything to do with the topic.
During night it seems the speed depends on the area from where you the downloading from .Sometimes Direct download during night goes down to 10-60kbps for a particular site but sometimes for other ex:microsoft site.I still get a speed around 100-145kbps.
Overall i would say from experience one can't really gauge the exact speed for either 512kps/1mbps/2mpbs.
Cheers!!!!
make sure the telephone is connected after the splitter
Will the SNR value also account for why my browsing speed is soooooo slow but my download speeds being good ?
Google and other websites open up at snail speed as thought I was working on 256 Kbps but the download speed stays true to 1 Mbps , when I eventually have a word with Customer Care to send out a line guy , will he be able to make sense of SNR values , I dont want him to close the case saying this , sir , your download speed is good what else do you want ,
What did your line man do to fix your SNR values ???
Did he replace the telephone line ??
Re-do the wire at the junction box ??
I dont use the phone service with Airtel , only broadband , do i still need to add the line splitter / micro filter that came along with the modem ?
I completely agree with you , the SNR values are very low , thanks for pointing me in the right direction . I really appreciate it.
my friend's using airtel 1Mbps unlimited and he constantly gets around 125 to 128Kbytes per second in IDM. That is the right speed for that plan, don't expect too much on a 1Mbps plan, it's not for heavy downloading, it would take ages to download even a 1GB file, only take this plan if u wanna surf low bandwidth sites and lite downloading of not more than 100MB files..
