Thread: Need help to setup repeater with beetel 450 tc1

Hi everyone,
i need help to setup a tp-link range extender(TL-WA501g) to work as a repeater with Beetel 450 tc1 (i guess its similar to 450 bx1).

What i have done so far:
1. set the tp-link to repeater mode
2. entered the mac address of beetel in tp link
3. entered the wpa/psk password in tp-link
4. changed the ip of tp-link to 192.168.1.12 (diff to that of the beetel or anything else)
5. ssid of tp-link n beetel are same
6. nothing was changed in beetel router as i did not find any place to enter details of a repeater.

But its not working.. pls help..thanks

distance is around 15-20ft ..height 4ft..the signal is very low in one of the rooms ..so i wanted to setup the repeater in that room..

Presume you have the 450TCI set up in WIFI mode, and the Systems/
Laptops in different rooms show the network name
in their network settings pages
( secured or unsecured). showing some signal strength.
(b) Whether there is an option to
select AP ( Access point) or WDM
Wireless Distribution method/mode ) instead of SSID.

Confirm this.

Post Ipconfig /all for both laptops.

2. Now TP LINK has to pick up the same signals and its ssid must be different. ( Check Channel selected in both Usually Channel 11 ).
Then both laptops may show the new ssid ( TP LINK).


3. Confirm you have Installation CD or user manual for the TP link unit.
post screen shot of connection status.

4. both laptops in TCP/IP properties. check Obtain IP address automatically.

5. There is mix up of IP addresses.

what i think the reason its not working is that the tp link is not connecting with the beetel..no options other than ssid in the system ..there are few other modes in the tp link other than the repeater like wds with ap mode... bridge point to point ..if we can work on them instead of repeater..can assure u that there are no issues with the ip's ..will download the Installation CD n post screen shot of connection status.
one things for sure tp link n beetel are not communicating with each other..i think thats the main issue here

Please answer queries raised by members also , as without proper feedback, we have no idea about the system /modem/router etc.

IF there is an option to connect RJ45 cable ( from beetel) to TP link unit.
Then by carefully repositioning it
WIFI coverage can be possible.

I am picking up two wifi links(unsecured) may be 100/ feet away .Height of WIFI router /placement not known.
in my ground floor rear room.

Please read my posts again.
Option 1 : laptop1 picks data from Beetel unit. no problem.
Option 2: Beetel connected to
TP link with RJ45..
WIFI signals from this picked up by laptop 2.
As you have Installation cd try this.
Option 3 : wifi link for two routers Failed.

Update:1900 hours.
Downloaded user manual 44 pages .
There are too many options, and first you try the
Rj45 connection.

thanks man.. i was just reading the manual ..came back to see that you have posted the same thing..
will try connecting the units with rj45.
Forget everything else just answer this last question ..what details of the tp-link unit do i need to put in the beetel 450tc1 if i connect them using rj45 or if i connect using wifi mode?

NO extraentries/settings in Beetel 450TCI.
Normal Function only. Preferable AlwaysOn"PPPoE mode.
( enable DHCP and UpNp if available)
Note the SSID name given.
it should appear in both laptops, provided
the WLAN cards settings are correct in your laptops.
( Taskbar ICON "view wireless networks")
Test and check function in LAN mode and WIfi mode. ( As standby if TPlink is programmed correctly)

Give details of the Wirless lan cards in both compuiters.

Well, After downloading the manual ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DIR-30…

It appears that with these units what you want to do is not possible with the Dlink Firmware. The function does not exist in the current firmware.
Linksys, Netgear, and others have builtin to them a system called WDS (wireless distribution) which will do what you want. Allow router to router wireless. The DIR300s do not have that feature.

1. you have to use a wire between them.

2 you can buy a wireless repeater unit which would also do the job.

ya i guess i knew that it wont connect in the wifi mode long before i posted on this forum ..it works with a wire between them.. an one more thing the whole issue is with the beetel 450tc1 router.. i tried connecting the tp-link unit as a repeater with my friends netgear router it worked.. beetel sucks..newayz thanks...tc

I use wgr614V6.
