    Default Wise thing to do?

I am from Hyderabad and have been using Tata wire line broadband nearly for 5 years. My current plan is 10 Mbit/s with 10 GB limit, but in reality I don't get a speed more than 3.5 Mbit/s. Also, I am facing the cable snapping problem more and more often. The Tata technician says the cable is very old with many loops and joints and the distance from the local DSLAM is prohibiting higher line speeds. It seems mine is the only wired DSL connection in our locality with Tata changing every other customer connection to WiMax. Due to some strange signal strength issues they were unable to change mine.

Now, I am thinking about terminating Tata and taking Airtel broadband connection. I am not a heavy downloader and not interested in unlimited plans, but wish to have speed of at least 2 Mbit/s. I hope cable issues won't arise as Airtel has a junction box right in our cellar, and the marketing executive is talking about bundled landline phone and is promising free installation.

Before deciding anything, I'd like to know from people here if Airtel is any better in comparison with Tata, be it in terms of service, speeds and customer care. Thanks.

You should go for Airtel as their service is much better than TATA.

been using airtel for over 4 years .. dont remember any problems .. disconnection for a few hours a couple of times and slow speeds for a day or two when the cable snapped on the sea (but that affected the whole country)

other than that , the service has been great
modem stopped working once, got replaced within 2 hours .. was quite impressed

not a big fan of the recent FUP implementation , but if a download cap doesnt bother you much , airtel is great

IMO Tata and Airtel Broadband are kind of same, i used tata wimax services till late december and was really satisfied and other friend of mine got this airtel which is performing really nice and in entire 2009 he called airtel cust care once only and that was too for router config.

According to me moving to airtel should not be a problem.
