my speed is still the same. I live in Mumbai.

I think if AirTel is going to double the speed, they are surely going to advertise in their website and in TV.

The OP is right. I got a call too a month back saying by June, my speed would be doubled, i.e. from 512kbps (Day)/1mbps (Night) to 1mbps (Day)/2mbps (Night).

I cant post the url but google this Title for Economic times 'Airtel pegs minimum broadband speed at 512 kbps'

So the current 1Mbps Rs.1699 plan people will be upgraded to 2Mbps? My friend is on that plan and his Speeds have still not been upgraded, hope he and everyone on that plan starts getting 2Mbps soon, Airtel babu kitna time wait karey, Jaldi upgrade kardo bhai, Speed dene keliye itna kyon taraste ho, humlog hazaron rupiye tumhe dete hai aur ye service, abhi jaldi upgrade karo hamare Speeds, It's already high time.

    Very Simple

Get the dth connect then give a call to airtel cc and tell to activate double speed offer and give them your dth id.

no, Airtel is already upgrading speed for all the broadband customers that's what the link to some articles said, so you have to wait till June for your speed to get doubled.

no, 2MBPS plans won't be doubled, and i think same with 1MBPS plans, it is only for 256 kbps and 512 kbps plans.

the ndtv link posted on the first page, says 1mbps will be doubled to 2 (cannot add the link as i dont have 15 posts)

and if its only for 512kbps , wont everyone on 1mbps downgrade and still get 1mbps 512kbps x2 for much less

i can see them increasing their minimum speed from 256 to 512 , but doubling speeds for other plans at no cost will be messy

Circular I received along with airtel bill says
    minimum Broadband speed 512 Kbps.
once you reach the allowed data download
( say "X" GB ) speed will revert to original tariff plan.

    Know your Upgraded Speed.
    Current speed Free Upgrade speed
    lessthan 512Kbps 512 Kbps
    512 Kbps 1 Mbps
    1 Mbps 2 Mbps
Your free speed upgrade is currently underway and will be completed by end of June. A personalized communication on your new upgraded speed plans details will follow shortly
    -----
*Free speed upgrade is applicable till high speed data transfer limit, post which, you will revert to your original plan speed

In my previous bill there was a card that said 256/512/1Mb will be upgraded to 512/1Mb/2Mb for free within June. Called Customer Care. They said that within June 10, my 1699 1Mbps plan will be converted to 2 Mbps unlimited!

    Default Swift 1099

I am currently in the plan Swift 1099 - 512kbps - unlimited (100 GB limit if it exceed my speed will get reduced to 256 kbps) .

I called customer care regarding this doubling of speed , they told me i will be moving on to 1 MBps speed unlimited within June 2010 and they also said you will have new limit check of 20 GB (earlier it was 100 Gb - 512kbps ) and exceeding tat you will return to 256 kbps speed.

Any present proofs for this info ???????????????

Even if your new FUP is 20 GB, after that you will get 512 Kbps, not 256 Kbps.

Bad news for Airtel Customers having variable speed plans , I just had a word with the Airtel engineer who services my Area , he said that if you have a Plan like mine [384 Kbps in the Day / 1 Mbps in the Night , only Day time speed will be upgraded to 512 Kbps , night speed will stay as it is ] , he also stated that speeds for old customers will be upgraded by the end of June.
This is totally different from what Customer Care informed me , They said that I will get 786kbps in the Day , 2 Mbps in the Night !

Can anyone confirm this news ? , its increasingly frustrating because every representative I talk to at CC gives out different info
