Default Wil Airtel Increase its Bandwidth?

It is clear cut now that BSNL & MTNL are going to increase their bandwidth with no additional charge, but with more free limit. Is there any info about AIRTEL? I am eager to hear such exciting news from Airtel.. I hope Airtel too wil increase because of the competition. And i pray for the same.. If this becomes true.......... I wil jump from earth to heaven....

I think Indian broadband providers should learn from UK. There you get unlimited connection with 8 Mbps speed for Rs. 1300/- per month & a 24 Mbps speed & unlimited connection is available for Rs. 2200/- per month. These Indian companies are struggling to get over 256 Kbps unlimited connection. I'm doubtful of reaching those levels in India. Although 2 Mbps connection from BSNL gives hope.

I honestly reaaaally hope they increase everyone's bandwidth scheme at no extra charge. It'd be foolish not to,considering now that bsnl and mtnl are doing it.

airtel has been very competitve.. and if i'm not mistaken.. have provided bsnl with bandwith.. i'm sure they will also follow suit.. or else, they might loose out on many customers.. i'm guessing that they will make their unlimited packages very attractive to draw in the customers since bsnl has not increased the speed for its unlimited customers..

    lets wait and see..

Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran announced that mtnl and bsnl's broadband speed will be increased from 256 kbps to 2 mbps at the same price from 1 january 2007. But there is a great comedy in his annoucement as well as disappointment for internet users.Dayanidhi Maran made the people fool. MTNL and BSNL are providing 2 mbps speed only for volume based plans. It is not for unlimited and hourly plans. When a person is paying according to his download limit (i.e. according to per mb), How can he enjoy 2 mbps speed at the same price. He is paying, how much he is using. No one will be benefitted by this promotion of speed.

When telecom minister himself befooling the people, what will be the future of that country in the field of IT? He can make people befool who dont know much about broadband, but an internet user can easily understand his fraud. Mr. Dayanidhi Maran please stop doing such kind of silly announcements before the whole media.
    Shame on you Mr. Maran.

I am one of the old customer of AIRTEL-BHARATI from chennai-17. I wish
Airtel announce the new tariff before 13th January - 07 (of course) and
muchmore attractive & competative so that Airtelji`s will not jump to the
otherside of the wall. Unlimitted home 999 should be of the Basic 512KBbs
of TRAI and should go upto 1MBbs at lean time.Other Home scheme should
be 512KBbs,1MBbs,!.5MBbs,2MBbs and 4MBbs all of LIMITED DOWNLOADS
of 3.0GB,5.0GB,7.5GB,15GB and 25GB.in the tariff range of Rs.500/=,750/=,1000/=,1500/= and Rs.2500/=.
These are reasonable for the different user catogaries and our CUSTOMERS will be within our PREMISES. I REQUEST AIRTEL TO ACT FAST AND GRAB
    THE MOST. Thanks.

Default Will Airtel increase its bandwidth

The situation is very fluid. Airtel is on wait-and-watch mode. We can rest assured that Airtel will not lag behind to match or beat BSNL in bb speeds. I am sure they will offer the increased speeds to "unlimited" speed customers unlike BSNL who think they are clever and are cheating this category. Offering higher speed with slight increase in broadband limit is no consolation and is not a big deal!

airtel has a golden opportunity to take an advantage in the unlimited section.. but.. that also means it being a costly affair for them.. but.. i say.. 512kbps unlimited for 999 would be awesome! 1-2mbps for the others with maybe 4gb limit onwards to make up for the night unlimited..

My friend does have unlimited plan on BSNL/MTNL and he is enjoying 2MBPS connection with D/L of around 250kbps although he says U/L is little slow.I checked his speed and i was impressed since all is offered for 949+service tax of rs.80.

    Default Airtel Broadband Speed increase

    Hi friends,
I am using Airtel's 999 plan. Under this plan I get 256Kbps(180Kbps in actual) in day and 512Kbps(360Kbps in actual) in night.
But right now (evening Jan 30th), I am getting download speed of 420Kbps. I do not have any information from Airtel as of now. There is no information given on their website either.

It's been two months since BSNL/MTNL have announced their 2MBPs plans. These airtel loosers are still looting customer's money with fkg 256Kbps (which in real is 190Kbs) connection. My friends who have bsnl connection are enjoying 200Kbps speed while still I'm struggling with 256Kbps for 1100Rs.
I lost my hope on Airtel.

Dont worry John all the private operators will have packages at par with bsnl soon if they want to survive in this ever growing isp market.

I miss my 11Mbs connection in London! You could actually get up to 24Mbs for around 1500Rs. but with a 1G cap.

Yes, that's the one I had :-( but I got it for only £21 because it was on some promotion. I was just pointing out there was an even cheaper version.

but is there really any hope that there will be an increase in the speeds for unlimited users ? I mean, even BSNL hasn't increased the speed for unlimited plans.. I'm paying 1098 per month for this stupid 256 kbps unlimited plan... here, we get 2 Mbps bandwidth, with just 20 GB download limit.. I know that it's night unlimited but tell me how many people stay online between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. ??
Really, you have to check this out : zen.co.uk/Broadband/S_Business.aspx?page=517

Dont know where you got that zen isp thing from coz I have been living in UK for almost 4 years now and never heard of them before..

There are a lot better speeds available in UK and at much lower price one of them being bethere.co.uk They provide you with an unlimited 24mbps connection at 24 pounds a month which is less then 2000Rs a month and they have an option of 4gb limit at 14 pounds a month. The ukonline guys give you 8mbps at 10 pounds a month.
