Default canceling my Airtel Broadband connection after 4 years of service

After almost 4 years of good service from Airtel, lately I have following concerns and decided to cancel the connection-

    - prices are high for the broadband speed offered. (Local providers are have become reliable and are offering very good speeds. )
    - download limits are very low despite paying high charges(FUP limits).
    - no low priced packages. (no package for around - Rs.500). These packages would be useful sometimes when we don't use the net much.
    - no night add-on packages(bsnl has )
    - lot of packages which are not visible online. Almost everyone has got individual package. that way sometimes we tend to lose some packages offered to others.
    - Some packages are not offered to customers in some cities. e.g - 4 MBPS plan for 899 is not offered in Hyderabad.
    - With cellphones everywhere, I guess land line is not much of use and Airtel land-line is almost useless. Airtel only gives Airtel Land-line to Airtel Land-line offers. I am sure most of us cannot use it.
I saw news about speed upgrades. But still Airtel will lag behind some other providers.

I hope Airtel would realize the current broadband scenario and re-vamp the pricing and speeds.

You did the right thing. They charge very high when we get similar services from other isp's in low cost.

    ....most 4 years...
    i am using Airtel BB for more than three years, and my tariff plan is ;
    Combo 499 D/L 1 GB Rs 200 free calls.
    speed upto 2 Mbps.
top up Rs 99/= free NU 0900PM to 0800AM same speed upto 2 Mbps.

I am unable to cancel My Airtel connection, as, I cannot get any equivalent plan here in Chennai from any other ISP.
Airtel tries to retain their old customer/s.
( there is a special cell).

( The offer "topup" was only to Bangalore users, but , agreed to give me the same facility)

Anyway best of luck , and will meet again in some other forum.

As "essbebe" mentioned, I was contacted by a "Retention Cell" employee. He asked reasons for cancellation, I told him the concerns I had. He offered me Free Calling Value (From my Airtel land line to any number) which I felt was good.

At least I felt someone was there to listen to the concerns and offer some help.

So, I have decided to keep the connection.

Hope other Airtel users will also get their issues sorted.

    Default Ridiculous!

was with airtel for a long time. To be honest, hated every second of it. Shifted to Beam now. Brilliant so far! Hope it stays this way!

    Default Painful cancellation process

I am having a very had time getting my airtel broadband disconnected.
I have moved from Bangalore to Pune and requested for my Airtel
broaband to be cancelled on 26th of July 2011. The request number is
1335487. I was told that someone will call me for cancellation of the
cponnection but no one did. I have made atleast 10 calls to your
customer care but no one is able to help me. What is worst that they
just hang up the phone. Pathetic custome care. Moreover I have
received the bill for the last month yestrday. Let me tell you that I
have no intention of paying this as I have not used the broadband
service. I will not pay for the lethargy and delay on your part. Even
today the customr care agent (Samvit and said that someone will be
calling us but failed to tell us when. This call was made at
    approximately 5:30 in the evening.

Please resolve this issue as soon as possible. My airtel number is 08041288362.

quality of the conection sud be primary consideration if u r a pro user. going for a cheap alternative doesnt solve any problem. problem with airtel is that they r lazy enough to expand their network for fixed line broadband to every corner.many people want quality in for affordable premium price

    Default Worst service

same as case below. I had asked for an address change within the city after using 2 years of service from Airtel. It took one month & 10 calls for them to check the feasibility! There were no responses from Airtel customer care. After 1.5 month they are telling that there is no feasibility.

IT TOOK JUST 45 DAYS FOR A MOST POPULAR BROADBAND AIRTEL TO CHECK A FEASIBILITY!!! they call it as AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

or did they expect me to change my old plan to their new costly plans???

I have quit AIRTEL and now using BSNL

^^ They were upgrading their existing broadband infrastructure some months back. During then, they took lots of time to settle any kind of issues - billing / new connections / shifting of connections etc etc.

I guess that was one of the reasons for their delay in contacting you.

hmm, if that was the case, they could have meant it right? We able to understand it. Couldn't they explain their customer their problem? how do we know unless they tell us...I know that was not the case..

I am on this very same plan, i was once contacted by a CC representative stating that your current plan is of 1099 having 1 Mbps of speed sir if pay a top-up of rs 100 per month you will get 2 Mbps speed... Although i was having 25gb of FUP limit cuz i am a bit old customer so said to that lady who was calling that i am on 25 gb cap dont limit it to 15 gb so she replied no worries sir it will be the same....

So far so good... but i am now done with Airtel i think, planning to change
