Default getting speed over 4 mbps will airtel charge me extra?

I've recently got a airtel connection and i hav been getting speed of 4mbps in my airtel 899 impatience plan despite downloading over the limit of 6 gb after which according to the plan the speed should drop to 256 kbps.........i called the coustomer care to make sure if i was on right plan and they confirmed it..........i've had airtel and bsnl before they do make such mistake of providing higer bandwidth to user but does airtel to?.....or will i be chrged heftly if i download too much some hidden ost sumthing.....and i havent asked for speed on demand ...pls if any one can solve my doubts.

If you've not requested the change of plan and customer care confirms it, I would say make the killing. Same thing happened with me while I was using Sify. My 256 kbps connection went upto 7 Mbps. Boy my Computer's Hard Drive used to be noisey while I was downloading at such great speed.

i didn't download much at start u see.....but then once i got the confirmation from the coustomer care i was on unlimited plan i hav downloaded a lot........ but i mean they can't charge me for mistake on their end right?......and the goddamned speed makes it very hard to download less plus its holiday season....i just wanted to know has it ever occured with anyone before?......or is because of upgrading of speed (which airtel promised to increse to twice for every user) that i'm gettingthis speed?

wait for some time, during server up-gradation your FUP counter will be sorted and your speed will be set to 256K these types of cap restrictions wont trigger that fast some cross their FUP and their original speed takes some time to get back

Yes, you'll be charged 10 paise per MB. There are 2 options in the 4Mbps plans - Limited and Unlimited. Looks like they have activated the 'Limited' plan for your number instead of the 'Unlimited' one. Best of luck. I suggest you immediately stop downloading and email the nodal officer.

actually they should not charge extra since it is their mistake even if they try to charge you be firm and do not pay, even i faced a similar situation with hathway i used to have a 4 gb 4 months plan but while renewing it the dumb exec renewed a 6 months 6gb plan after some time they asked me to pay the diff along with the delay payment charges but i was firm that it was their mistake not mine.
