Thread: Airtel Noida vs Kolkata

This is a new one that happened today. I surrendered my existing bsnl broadband today and opted to switch to the Airtel 699 unlimited plan. The local airtel representatives came to my place within a couple of hours of my calling them, did the necessary and confirmed that i would get the connection in a coupla days.

I had however simultaneously raised a query regarding the plans in Airtel's website and soon enough, someone called from Noida but stated that the plan i was looking for i.e 699 unlimited was no longer available.

So, the learning here is that there is a disconnect between Airtel's Noida and other city representatives. So be forewarned!!

I would however like to point out a simple experience I had with one of them last month. This guy called me and offered me 1Mbps UL for 499/-. It came with 200/- free calls. So I had to pay 299/- per month for a 1Mbps plan.

Within a few days, the connection was activated. I was enjoying it for four days when out of the blue, I get a similar call from Airtel. That there is no such plan and that the sales representative made a mistake etc etc. They offered me 512kbps UL for 499/- as a form of compensation, though.

I decided to fight back. Wrote elaborate emails to senior officials in Airtel and DoT. I specifically mentioned that the speed profile and plan profile is set in Bangalore, not at my hometown! So Airtel knew what they were really up to. It worked and Airtel reinstated my speeds back to 1Mbps.
