Well, what's your area and which is your phone, also by which method are u connected (Bluetooth, Infrared or any other) and r u using it Through GPRS ? Is it an unlimited plan? 16-32 is amazing on airtel.
There are some kids around who just vote for the sake of it even though they have never use gprs Trust me its impossible on airtel as they cap speeds at 100kbps.May be in future when wimax phones arrive airtel will have to do something to keep thier customers from moving to wimax service providers to get better speeds.

Lightbulb

I would say Airtel GPRS is not bad at all.

What I do is, I have Airtel GPRS, which I use to browse on my laptop using a Data cable, (Not blue tooth please).

The connection shows 410kbps strength. Although when I check the effective speed, depending on the time of the day, it varies between 25-97 kbps. I use my N72 as the modem.

I have successfully downloaded Windows Vista, (almost 3 GB) and many movies and Vids using this connection. Ofcourse, I use a few tweaks to fine tune speed, but for Rs. 375/- a month, it is not bad at all!

Not a question of 'not a big deal' or 'big deal' man!

Members here are lamenting that speed of Airtel gprs sucks.

What I am saying and what you just confirmed is that for less then Rs.400/- for an unlimited plan which is pretty trouble free, the deal is actually good!

Many times, I have used download manager in the night, slept and by morning, downloaded huge video files.

Those with limited GB limits can even consider taking Airtel GPRS as additional backup. In any case it is damn good for normal surfing, (e-mails, chats etc.)

Default i get good speeds on airtel gprs

i activate mobile office once in a week and work as much as i can..

i nearly download 700 mb stuffs...
and total bandwidth usuage will be around a gb... even torrents run fine.. in the day time the speed on torrents will be around 8 to 12 kb/s and in the night time it increases to 16-18 kb/s.. once the speed reached 22 kb.. but it was just for a an hour or less...
well. what can u expect for 20 bucks...
previously i had bsnl 500 home.. i became sick coz getting up every night ... the broad band fever came down and now i am really relaxed..and took out the connection.. ..
i update my OS ,download the top mp3 hits of the week if there are any new releases .. thats enough for me.....
