I just got an e-mail from Airtel confirming my increased speed with a rider - the 2 mbps is valid for 30 GB after which I go back to my 1 mbps speed. Actually speaking, I don't mind 30gigs at double speed with no cost increase to me...

    Cheers

I am on 1099UL old plan and was getting 1mbps after upgrade of speed. First month download very much but no FUP. But this month i think airtel has applied FUP. from last 2 days i am getting 512kbps instead of 1mbps.

will confirm if it was temporary problem or FUP as website says after FUP i will be shifted to 256kbps and still i am getting 512kbps.

And above all Airtel speed test shows i am getting speed of .3mbps and whereas speedtest.net shows i am getting .6mbps. to confirm i tried download from microsoft site according to it i am getting .6mbps

I heard that Airtel will apply the revised FUP policy only from the next billing cycle.

AIrtel has started applying FUP. My billing cycle refreshed on 6th september and today my speed is back to 1mbps now, which means now i should stick to download limits from now on.

7 days back my speed was downgraded to 512kbps, but i think its better than 256kbps as advertised by airtel

i knwo i was in 256 ]plan they upgraded to 512 band then to 1mbps ... since two days i am getting 512 and on asking customer care they said the promotion has been taken back .............airtel i guess used it to rope some new customers and when i called they said first that i was in 512 plan then they said u had been updated to 1mbps and since u have limit of 10gb@1mbps so u are getting the base speed plan

Same here ...my speed was upgraded to 512Kbps after that doubling up.. yesterday in the nite i was video streaming and suddenly the buffering slowed down..then I went to speedtest.net and the speed it showed was 0.3Mbps..
On restarting the router/modem...The airtel page popped on starting the browser and said you will now get the revised speed according to Airtel FUP..

Its so rude of Airtel..I am seriously thinking of changing to some other service..I cannot live with 8GB of download with FUP and then getting dumped back to 256kbps pathetic speed..

^^ Call up the customer care and ask them to revert your revised plan back to the original plan.

They will not be willing to do so. However, ask them for a disconnection request.

They might connect you to the retention department.

Over here, you can bargain with the agent - they have no way other than offering you the earlier plan.

At times, they might give you a disconnection request number. Just save that number somewhere safe.

The next day, you might get a series of phone calls - all of them might inquire about the disconnection. Tell them that you need the old plan, or else, you are outta the game. Trust me, this works.

If they do not do so, they stand to lose a subscriber who will move to Reliance BB or some other ISP.

The management is not realizing that other ISPs are gaining subscribers in significant numbers, thanks to shabby fair usage policy services from Airtel Broadband.

The promotion is still there. However, they have introduced stricter fair usage policies now.

See I told you. They had to offer you a new plan with revised FUP. Else, they might loose a valuable customer. This is one aspect i like about private ISPs. They give importance to their subscriber base.

Anyway, do keep us posted with your Airtel BB experiences
