Wink speed upgrade will be done this month.

I m using 512kbps ul .All know that airtel is doubling speed to all its current customers without no cost and that should have been done before end of june.so i send mail to cc regarding this.Next day i got call from cc ,they told that currently they are doubling speed for 256 to 512kbps ,so after that they will come to 512kbps and will upgrade to 1mbps,and that will happen before july.so i m very happy.
Note:frnds to elgible for this upgrade, you should have unlimited plan .
Before 512kbps ul,i was using swift plan in which i used to get 384kbps on daytime and 1mbps on night.but when i asked cc they told that speed upgrade will not applicable to me.so i changed my plan to 512kbps ul.so be sure that you are using 256,512 or 1mbps ul plan,to get on to this offer

Can You post the email here. As per my talks Airtel is not willing to double the speed unless you migrate to their new plans which very low download limits (FUP). So its just wait and watch.

Airtel will never double the speed, I am also on 512 Kbps UL for Rs.1099 and they were insisting me to change to new swift 1099 plan which gives 1mbps till 15gb and afterwards only 256kbps, for which i refused.

This has been already discussed earlier in many threads

If they upgrade the speeds, they will reduce your existing FUP. It is safe to stay with the existing plan and enjoy a greater FUP. Else, you will exhaust the revised FUP within a few hours and spent the rest of the month with 256kbps broadband!

I heard that Airtel is deciding the FUP for its customers and enforcing them without informing the subscribers. I would request board members to keep a sharp lookout for such activities..

    Unhappy They will do but...

As everyone is feared about FUP, they will throw this policy with the doubling the speed which will end up in headache afterwards when the FUP limit is over and you will thrown back to 256 kbps.

And I know how that is going to be feel.
"Pahele Raja(King) ki tarah jio or baad me bhikhari(Begger) ki tarah"
jab tak speed acchi milengi tab tak Raja(King) baki Begger.

I think this FUP thing is utter non sense. as someone who demands more speed is obviously the one who has unlimited usage and the one who has unlimited usage can't live with the policies like this.

So better to look out for this kind of policy.

Got my speed upgrade today. From morning I am getting speeds of 1mbps instead of 512kbps. Now i have wait and see if it continues.

If it continues will download as much as possible to exhaust 15Gb limit to see it throws me back to meager 256kbps or not.

Last month airtel called me to shift to new swift 1099 plan with 1mbps and FUP of 15Gb, which i refused. hope this speed upgrade is on my old 512kbps UL plan with high FUP

It has been 5-6 days that i got my speed upgrade and downloaded to the mas to check the FUP, my billing cycle is 5th to next months 4th. I had been downloading and uploading on my old speed of 512 in this cycle and in last 5 days i had totalled ( download + upload) = 16Gb and previous download and upload are not added and still 4th is far away.

Still getting 1 Mbps speeds. hope it continues

Same here , I am on the old Explore 1099 Unlimited plan [384 Kbps Day / 1 Mbps Night] that I took back in 2008 , Suddenly from the past 2 days my speed has increased to 1 Mbps in the Day and Night , I think this is too good to be true cause with Airtel broadband , you usually gets spikes that last 3 to 4 days if u don't restart your router, I have not restarted my router with the fear that my speed will go back to 384 Kbps . Lets see how long this lasts .

This is good news guys , another one of my friends who is on the Airtel 512 Kbps plan [5GB Day Limit / Unlimited at Night] called and informed me that his day and night speed has increased to 1 Mbps .

I think that upgrades have started for people on old plans this month.

Keeping my fingers crossed , hoping its not a spike

Do you think that Airtel will force FUP on us / migrate our plan to one with a limited bandwidth cap without informing us about it ?, we never asked them for a speed upgrade / to be moved to another plan ? how then can they do it without our consent ?

Airtel is FINALLY realizing our Need For Speed !!!

I can confirm that for the last three days Airtel have doubled my speed to 2 mbps from the 1 mbps unlimited plan that I was on (1699/-)
Surprisingly, they have not informed my either on phone or email about this upgrade - so now if they finger around with my FUP I'm going to yell blue murder.
If that doesn't work then I think a trip to the consumer court will be in order

    Default Speed upgrade still holding

The speed upgrade for me was a nightmare for a couple of days as the wiring Airtel had done was ok for 1 mbps but led for disconnects every 3-4 minutes on 2 mbps. However on complaining, they did the rewiring for me within a day and a half and I am now back to a stable connection and speed is still up

So I read your post and called up Airtel CC Immediately, i have already crossed the 120 GB mark , Download Only for this month.
They confirmed that I am on the same Old Explore 1099 Plan that I took way back in 2008, only the speed has been upgraded , but its still an Unlimited service.

Could you give us information about the plan that you were using before the speed upgrade and what City you are from ?

I am in Delhi and using Old 1099 512kbps UL Plan which i took in January 2010 i think so. And they did called me to shift to new 1099 Swift plan with 15Gb FUP which i simply refused and I am on Old Plan with a speed upgrade which i confirmed from the Airtel engineer of my area when he came yesterday for some Browsing issues.

    Default Speed upgrade....very doubtful

In early May 2010, I had received a notification along with my paper bill indicating of Airtel's FREE doubling of current speeds by June end. I waited patiently until the end of July and then contacted CC. I was told to send a scanned copy of the notification to them - which I did. The response was very prompt but the reply was very disappointing. Below is a "copy & paste" (with minor amendments for privacy) of the email I received from Airtel

So all those who are eagerly awaiting for a speed upgrade, you might as well kiss your dreams goodbye !! At the same time, it surprises me as to how some customers have actually been lucky to get speed upgrades as told by them in this Forum. I will still follow up with Airtel by quoting the "lucky" customers and see what they have to say

Devlevis......thanks your concern.....but that you mention you are experiencing upgraded speeds, are you aware there may be a drastic drop in the FUP ? Please see a new thread that I have started which is self explanatory. Let us hope as India progresses into the future we can see all these restrictions removed.
