    Default Question regarding Airtel speeds/service

    Hello:
I'm currently working in the US and plan to telecommute from Bangalore for a couple of months this summer. I spoke to an Airtel rep who said that for the Rs 999 plan, they offer 2 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload and 3 GB of data per month. I wanted to check if anybody had signed for this plan and if the actual speeds match what they advertise. I'm currently getting an upload of 384 Kbps here and the 1 Mbps upload speed seems impressive. They claim that it takes 6 business days to set up the line. I will definitely exceed the 3 GB data usage, was wondering if anybody has any experiences with this. Any suggestions/advice will be most appreciated.

    Thanks!

If ur position is in US, and ur speed markings are in bytes then u r not gettin' speed upto mark. I'm in India where markings are in bits so indians can't help you.

    hi,
Airtel has 512kbps UL for 900 , though it hasn't announced it officially. Check it with the Cce (or) You have tata indicom as a another option 512 UL is available in tata indicom too for Rs. 1850. If you are obsessive with Downloads. Then the above said plans would be suitable for you.

Here is the link of airtel's proposed plans

    Default AIRTEL Upload Speeds

Thanks for the info! I will follow up on that. I've noticed that very few of the providers explicitly specify the upload speeds, since I think most people who surf the web really care about the download speeds.

im the first user in bangalore to have taken the airtel 999 2mbps 3gb d'load limit plan. Speeds are amazing....on an average i get 200+ d'load speeds. But the cache is there..the bastards d'loading policies are absolutely ridiculous. if the modem is kept switched on..even if the computer is switched off. Imagine that. They've sent me Rs7000 bill for this month. My advice to u is if your a heavy d'loader, then don't go for this plan . Stick to some unlimited plan.
