Default Airtel is fraud and cheap - Proof inside

Okay. So i am not a new Airtel Broadband customer. I was using Airtel since last 5 years. This is how Airtel treats its loyal customers. If you are about to take a new Airtel connection, think twice, spare few minutes and read my post.

    ****Fraud Nature of company****

I heard many times that Airtel over bill its customers but i did not took it seriously until it happened with me. I am using Plan 250 + 199 Top up + 99 Modem rental = 550/- fixed monthly rental. I receive 200 MB free usage in day (8:00 AM to 8:00PM) at 256Kbps and 512 Kbps unlimited usage in night. (8:00PM to 8:00AM). I rarely use internet in day, only to check my email etc.

For unknown reason Airtel decided to slap me with usage of 515MB for certain day which costs 600 Rs even when i did not used the internet. I was surprised.

    ****Fraud Nature of employees****

So, for obvious reasons i called customer care (44444555) to correct the erroneous billing. The executives who always talked friendly behaved most rudely. They talked senselessly and hanged up the phone several time. After talking to their seniors and even their super seniors. I got funny replies. Here is some part of conversation.

    ****

Me: Sir, as i have explained my problem that i have been unjustly charged 600 Rs for broadband usage which i never used. Please waiver this money.

Airtel Executive: Modem was switched on from your side hence you used the internet and you have to pay.

Me: Sir, to best of my knowledge, i did not switch on the modem let alone download anything from internet. I have not conceded any data transfer.

Airtel Executive: Modem was switched on from your side hence you used the internet and you have to pay.

Me: Sir, even if the modem was switched on by mistake, i use a dialer to connect the internet. So unless i enter my username and password in the dialer and connect the internet how can modem dial and connect to internet by itself.

Airtel Executive: (said in threatening tone) Modem was switched on from your side hence you used the internet and you have to pay. May be there is some virus in your computer.

Me: Sir, try to be sensible. How can some virus, itself download massive 500MB? I have never heard of such kind of virus. Nevertheless i use Kaspersky Internet security which is fully updated.

Airtel Executive: (said in threatening tone) Modem was switched on from your side hence you used the internet and you have to pay.

Me: Sir, try to be sensible. I have explained you that 500MB of data transfer is practically impossible to occur from my end. It could not happen even if i wanted to download anything. At 256Kbps i receive around 30 Kb/s download speed in file transfer. So to download 500MB, it would take 5-6 hours non stop for me to download 500MB. I am not incredibly idiot to do that. I can wait till 8:00 PM and download as much as i want as per my night unlimited plan.

Airtel Executive: (said in threatening tone) Modem was switched on from your side hence you used the internet and you have to pay. Sometimes even when computer is turned off, modem itself transfer packets.

Me: Sir, i am using broadband since last 5 years. Please also check my history of billing. I never had this kind of problem. This error in billing must have occurred from your end.

Airtel Executive: OK. I can get you rebate of 200 Rs. Take it or leave it (In mafia tone) otherwise face consequences.

    Hangs up!!

    ****

About Nodal officer and Appellate Authority

In the bottom of my bill i find contact of thse two people

    Name - Gurmeet S SandhuBharti Airtel Limited, 224, Okhla Industrial Area. Phase III. New Delhi 110020 e-mail - Ph - 011-41614777, Fax - 011-41613579

Name-P D Sarma Bharti Airtel Ltd224, Okhla Industrial Area. Phase III. New Delhi 110020 Ph -011-41614690, Fax -011-41613579

*Their Phones never work. Either they dont answer or they hang up or they are too busy talking to someone*

I wonder whether these two guys even exist or Airtel is just defrauding its customers by creating their fake identity.

    ****Cheap nature of Company****

Well, its kind of offtopic but i must say. Whenever i pay my bill by cheque, those Airtel guys keep calling me for one week complaining that they have not received my cheque. I put my cheque in the drop box right at their office. As per their policy they cash the cheque in 3 days maximum time but for some reason they keep calling me even after a week some times. They threaten me to disconnect my connection, they send me pre recorded voice messages to pay my bill even when i have already paid it!!!. They ask me about my Bank, cheque number, passbook and many personal detains for no reason as if i am a thief or a gypsy who will run away with their money.

    Airtel......shame on you.

It appears a very bad Experience,
You should shift to bsnl or reliance now.

I have already contacted reliance for combo 600 plan. They say, currently they dont have a free port available in my area. They are offering wimax which is too expensive.

I am trying spectranet 512 unlimited for 500Rs/month. But speed i am getting ranges from 300-470 Kbps.

Anyway i will contact reliance again.

Reliance combo 600 = 512 kbps day + 1Mbps night unlimited transfer + some voice calls. Sounds good.

As from my side go with Reliance or BSNL...
Seeing from your problem i feel like they are treating their customers as slaves..

But unless we have an Unlimited connection we cant justify our self with any proof.. If we can produce proof means they can also, bec they run the whole thing..

Go with BSNL.. These BSNL people are lazy but they will do the work on time..
And take the UL750+ from BSNL...

    Hi,

Anyway i will contact reliance again.
Worst mistake you'll ever do ! I have seen countless people here and elsewhere complaining the attitude of Reliance guys,if what you went through with Airtel is anything to go by then I'd say the Airtel experience is a mere Trailer when Reliance is the full blown Movie !!

I have many friends using Airtel and so far not one has had this kind of rude behavior from staff ! Am not trying to say they perfect but compared to Reliance Believe me they are 100 times better !

I myself at one point in time tried to get a connection from them and the kind of attitude they gave, well lesser said the better !!

Try any other service provider if you must but not Relience !

If you can get an MTNL nothing like it (going by what you say,you may be in the border ) !

    Regards.

    That's right.... go with BSNL...
and a simple advice, don't call these executives 'sir' when they don't deserve it. They are hired to service the customers, not harass them.

Man go with BSNL they are a bit lazy but they are best.
I know a friend of mine got a bill of 1and a half lakh ruppes in similar situation the guy went head to bottom and they actually checked all their logs and finally accepted their mistake.
By accepting a mistake company showed honesty which I do not see in case of your service provider.
And for question like virus you should have said them you use Linux .

Default I feel sorry for u

Yes, its clear that this company isn't build on foundation of good business practices. Its there nature to deceive/ lure customers by showing fancy adds and making publicity. I am using this connection from 1 year still facing problems with speed/disconnection.

I had reliance broadband for the last 2 years but there plans was lame. so i changed to this ISP. and now i am frustrated because now reliance also offering same plans.

    U SUCK AIRTEL

    Angry Airtel fraud

    Hi,

I have had a similar experiences with AIRTEL.its definitely a cheap and fraud natured comp.We should not be fooled by its ADS!!! I have taken AIRTEL broadband connection for months now, initially speed was ok. I was paying 799 Rs for 256kbps p.m ul , I used to get 20-25kbps download. I was not happy with this speed and contacted AIRTEL several times to upgrade my plan. But airtel refused to do so!!! Finally i was frustated and decided to call it quits .I asked to cancel my connection, sent a mail aswell!!! but to my horror instead of cancelling my connection ,they changed my plan to volume based plan and not informed me at all!! I dont switch off the modem usually and it keeps on !!
It took 18 days to AIRTEL to cancel my connection !!!Now they have sent me a bill for rental and usage ,well i have never used!!!
Such is the cheating nature of the company!!!Its in their genes to cheat, any body had such issues earlier any suggestions how to tackle this kinda of harassment would be greatly appreciated!!!

Default They duped me also for Rs 14000 - fraud

We had requested 1st by telephone on 6 August to have our plan changed from 1299 Business Combo to Impatience 1299. We were informed by the Airtel staff that since their system was being updated we should email the request to “wecare.west@airtel.in”and assured us that after this our plan will be changed to Impatience 1299 within 48 hours. Following the telephonic exchange, we sent an email dated 6th August for the same to change our plan

At this point we understood that Airtel will do the needful and hence started using the internet as per the new plan Impatience 1299.

On 14th Sep 2010 we have received the bill amounting to Rs 14,509.84. Upon further investigation it was noticed that Airtel failed to change our plan from 1299 Business Combo to Impatience 1299. We have written to Airtel customer service the same day informing you of the error with a request to rectify the same. We received an email from Airtel explaining that Impatience 1299 is not applicable to our account.

We were not told anything to this effect when we made a plan change request on 6th August. Even after sending an email for the same we were not intimidated that the plan will not be applicable.

Now, on 17th Sep 2010 I get an email from Airtel saying that they never got any email from us. What is next - will they delete the telephone conversation as well?

I think it's your mistake, that before receiving any confirmation email or call. You start using the Internet as per your new plan. You should check with the customer care to confirm the plan changes.

If you're going to file a case in consumer court, you will have to pay the amount. It depends how much they negotiate but it would be more than 50%.

    Default Airtel Craps

Airtel is a fraud company . i have a airtel mobile connection .i used to get 10 to 12 msgs promotional msgs from them. i opened a web page from mobile office and the session lasted for 3 to 4 seconds!!! not hours or minutes and after that i got 2 msgs from them and they read :- thanks for downloading a game worth 99 . i got this msg twice and when i saw my balance 198 rs were deducted from it.and its customer care is hellish even tata's is better. when i told them i have been charged 198 rs for nothing then they told me that you have downloaded 2 games .i told them how can someone download 2 games in 3 seconds then they told me that you visited our site for every visit you are charged a game download.then i told him to hand the call to his manager and i did some teri maa ki bhen ki and guess what i was refunded my money and a pack of 15 rs gprs was activated for free.its true even my friend also tried this way of mine because he was charged 1000 for internet usage when he uses a phone without gprs.lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ya my suggestion is to go for BSNL... Since they are the reliable... And the complaints are also followed after solving the issue...

am using Airtel mobile... for past 3years... and i never did topup less than 202... in that also they charging some amount 30Rs saying that "u have activated cricket plan, hello tune,etc..".. after that i scold them and got back that amount.. so when u seek this kind of problem pls dont get back while speaking with customer care strongly.. u too speak if there is no mistake on ur side...

The problem is that many customers leave airtel BUT airtel does not bother. This is what India is all about, consumer power is very limited here n no ones voice is heard.

boss you saying that he is in a remote area ...

but may be you are not aware about Chandigarh too ..

In Chandigarh sector 22 , Airtel has no technical feasibilty

that all depends upon Airtel , Reliance , where they want to provide there services

In spite of reading a lot of reports like this about Airtel, due to personal compelling reasons opted for Airtel BB recently.

I do not regret, again inspite of having issues with support.

All I did was to insist on talking to senior person and follow up by emails to 121@airtel.in. If no response follow up again with CC to nodal officer. I never allowed the CS member raise his/her tone. I always made sure I have the commanding voice as I pay for the service.

Believe me now I get support pretty quickly.

It is just their CS members (programmed robots in my opinion) who either do not understand or tend not to understand what the customer wants.

This was my case. Not sure what others experienced. And of course I am with unlimited plan so no worry about excess billing plus I pay online.

Very true, also they are the outsourced third party staff. For them, Airtel is not their company.. its the BPO for which they are working is the main company..

I would say its better to be with BSNL... atleast you would always have right expectations in terms of services.
