    Default Help nedded with download

    i hav an airtel 899 broadband connection (4mbps speed/impatience plan).......whenever i download from megaupload or rapidshare i never get more than a 10-20 kb/ps while my actual speed is 512 kbps.........i get approx 100 kbps per file in mediafire and can easily download 4 files simultaneously....in my laptop i get speed close to 500kb/ps in all file sharing site then y do i don't get it with my desktop.....pls help.....i was having similar problem in torrent but then i forwarded the torrent port and now i get 500 kb/ps pls help.......if any1 can either tell me which port megaupload usses for downloading pls do tell......thanku

    done everythingthe post says but still not getting it it's not that i don't get my max speed it's just that i dont get it everywhere....(rapidshare and megaupload only) even mediafire works f9

    1. Which firewall / antivirus do you use ? Disable it and try. I had similar problems. It went ok when I disabled my firewall.

    2. Try a download from Microsoft and report your speed here.

    i hav already switched off my antivirus and closed my firewall.........but even still not getting the speed.........i can open all ports in my modem but that leaves me exposed to hacking risk.....so i don't wana do it but looks like last resort to me.....myy modem is 110TC! beetel.

    try changing your dns to

    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

    its not an anti virus problem..

    You can switch to Bridge mode. In Bridge mode, all ports are open. I agree there is a factor of risk, but it is feeble. Use a good firewall if you are in Bridge mode. That will serve the purpose.

    Ishant... this is a common problem, i have similar issues with rapidshare and megaupload, i dont think it has anything to do with your setup, cause if ure setup can give u download speed of 2mbps on other sites and softwares that means it is working fine...the issue is with the particular website..in this case..rapidshare and megaupload
