Default Airtel not ready to provide 1799 plan!

Its been almost 3 months now. I have called the customer care almost 20-25 times.
I got a call from Airtel telling me that since I am a valuable customer(?!?), they are offering a new 1799 plan with 4mbps speed. I agreed, told them to change my plan. I was promised a weeks time. 5 days later, i get a call from them, saying its not possible at my address.
a week later I again get their call. I asked them to first confirm if they can provide or not. They say yes its possible. 5 days later...same thing. Not possible. This has been the case since past 3 months. I have got their call almost 5 times now. Every time the same thing! Disappointing!

I am surprised how such a big company cannot install a small device for someone who is ready to pay! Don't think there's a word called "customer satisfaction" in their dictionary!

If ANYONE FROM AIRTEL IS READING THIS, PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

I didn't got what are you trying to tell. Are you alreadry a Airtel Broadband Customer care or you are talking about getting a new connection.

If you are Old customer why cant they give you 1799 plan. Are you in delhi or somewhere else. Go to your Router's device info page and see whats the maximum speed your line can support. I dont think any other device apart from router is required to give a connection ( Apart from ADSL splitter).

If you are a new customer in need of Airtel connection then better forget it, as Airtel has already exhausted its capacity i think so because they are not providing any new connections exceptions are there if somebody leaves airtel then only you can get it.

    Smile Technical Feasibility

    Hi,

I am not from Airtel but I am from Telecom and Networking Equipments manufacturing domain. 4Mbps plans need to have a feasibility with a higher bandwidth availability and the distance between the nearest DSLAM and your residence must be lesser. Typically, 2MBps should not be a problem within a radius of 2Kms of the DSLAM. If it is more than that, It is inevitable for the distance to be shorter and moreover, subsequently the Backbone bandwidth to the DSLAM also has to be increased which is dependent on the actual distance from the Remote Switching Unit to the place where the DSLAM is located.

Not favouring airtel, but this is a genuine issue with any DSL provider. Things will change soon when the FTH really kicks in. DSL is still a limping technology only. With FTH, you can switch to any bandwidth you want at anytime.

Wait for it or try your luck in a few days again if Airtel has invested on a DSLAM near to your house.

    thanks..caprismart

I agree. but that was my whole point! That a company like Airtel, should have got into action if they have a request for the 4mbps plan! I think this will just increase their business if nothing else! Why do they have to wait till "certain" number of people request for the same thing! I would have preferred if they did things other way round!

Of course but maybe with added cost. They have to do the feasability studies. Suppose if the device is costly they may lose revenue if enough people dont subscribe to 4 Mbps plan as the cost would be covered from multiple users.

Since they havent gotten more requests now IMO it is fair from company's point of view if they dont provide the service.

There are some areas where Airtel doesn't provide internet at all while they provide connections to the people living on the other side of the same road! Now thats more frustrating!

    Same in Bangalore

I asked for 1399 4 MBPS plan, they said its closed.

Now we can only give 2 MBPs, when I called Care they say feasilbility excuse, when I sent a mail they said we can upgrade.

so now 1 thing good happned with me is I have a Written proof that they can offer 4 MBPS as by mistake they sent me mail saying we can upgrade you to 4 MBPS, when I asked that I have paid for 5 Months in Advance and I get 1 Month free, they are saying different reasons that if you upgrade now I loose 1 month free sub.

When I asked am I responsible for the loss or your representative they are Quite no reply.

I mailed to Nodal officer to Appeal nothing is happening

Today someone calls me and says I am appeal guy we cannot offer 4 MBPS to u as Exchange is 2 KM from your Area.

If we give also I cannot promise 4 MBPS speed.

And above all he is trying to Guide me that was amazing part, he is not ready to listen anything and saying Action is taken against the executive who gave Wrong info and sent wrong mail.

I said I am moving to Consumer court and now this weekend I will File a case for harrasing me and passing wrong info to me.

    Thanks

Well, at least I am not being hassled by sales staff!

I have asked Airtel for upgrade to 4Mb plan. I guess it must have technical staff I asked, because, every time, after they took a minute or two to look it up or ask, they came back with the answer "not possible on your exchange, give us a few months and ask again". Well, we are in "the wilds" of Chennai, but our Airtel cabling is very new, so this surprised me. Recently, one of their engineers was here with regard to an issue and we asked him about it. It seems that the problem with providing this plan goes back to an exchange is T Nagar --- which is very central. There must, despite their advertising and promotion, be large areas of cities unable to move to 4Mb/second.

Never mind, 2Mb/sec is good enough for me, but for a small increase in price I will go to 4Mb/sec when I can.

Airtel1299, I don't thinkj that mis-informing you is something any court would be interested in. The world is full of stupid, badly-informed, and just-plain-desperate-to-meet-targets sales people. My thinking is that the best you can do is ask them to put you on their do-not-call register so they do not hassle you any more.
