Default which broadband can i get in hyderabad?

I am planning a month in hyderabad/India. Not sure what Internet/Broadband options i can get. I have TATA indicom phone at my parent's home where i will be staying. Reading a few threads here i got confused as Airtel, BSNL, Tata, etc are all being rated by users as not good enough to use even.

Further more i think the broadband availability is not covered fully even in hyderabad as i understand from few postings here.

My requirement is atleast 512 kbps and something that stays constant if not worse.

Any help and advice will be greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.
Anwar

dont know much about broadband connections in HyD. I had no option but to take tata Indicom wireless USB modem connection it is basically dial up connection through a wireless USB modem. I was able to make conncetion with my office in US. I work on Oracle APPS. As our development database it self is relatively sluggish I was able to work comfortably almost like I was in US.
My friend also used this kind of connection last year and it worked for him. Another friend uses TATAindicom USB connection to connect to his DELL office in Banglaore for a couple of hours daily. He is able to manage.
Here what I mean to say that there are minor compromise in speed but connection is ok.
customer care is polite but not very capable. Also you need to keep track of something called Credit Limit(even before they send their first bill) in their accounts they cut you off without notice and it takes a couple of days to get online again after payment.
General browsing is a bit slower. Typical dial up speeds.I have used this connection in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai and while travelling on train too.

It has been an year since i was in Hyderabad so don't know if much changed. Last march (2007) i was there for couple of weeks and used tata indicom broadband (wired). Speed was good and i had data allowance of 6 GB but the stability was in question while it kept dropping more so often and also ended up being without connection for 24 hours and that was most critical time i was supposed to be connected to american and european zones. I had to run around as much and was even running to airport to catch flight to pune where nearest our office was to be online. Since then my employers are scared when i even mention being available from hyderabad on break.

my requirement is bit more than others mentioned here, i can't rely on slow speed some dial-up connection. I require high speed, stable internet as i spend quite much time not only being connected to global servers but also video and voice conferencing systems + remote control of interfaces that is data intensive. With 3G mobile internet card and WIFI i am pretty much mobile and on work accross europe without any issuce.

I would still consider tata indicom next time i am there to see how much it has improved and can comment more.
