Thread: Airtel speed issues in september.. Lets unite guys and gals!!

Hi guys i have been experiencing slow speed issues with my broadband in kolkata and my others friends are also facing this issues i guess someonebudy is requesting us to use the speed on demand service so that we pay and they say pay more and lose more

speed is below the average guys i need your help try visiting different speed test websites quit all the applications which require updates and the applications in the system tray to get more accurate results ..


Lets see how many are there who are experiencing these issues

True indeed. I thought I was the only one experiencing slightly slower speeds since the last few days.

Count me in too, please. The speed test shows 2 Mbps. However, the websites are taking a long time to load up and I am unable to watch streaming videos just like I had used to.

My speed in bangalore is reduced to 300 kbps from earlier 800 kbps, the difference is only noticed in Upload not download, download is coming correct 2 MBPS as mentioned in the plan.

I dont know what to do to increase the upload speed.

I m also facing same speed problem for my 512kbps plan but mainly during night time.Its around 220kbps.
I called CC too many times they replyed that there was no problem from there side.Its may be due to virus in your Lap.
When I connected to the local airtel eng he answered that it was a basic problem for many customer in our exchange(White Tower,BB Ganguly Street,Bowbazar).We also unable to find out the root problem.
Plz co-operate with us.

Checkout the SNR and attenuation values listed on the modem. At times, Airtel might not be at fault.

there is some FUP (fair uses policy or can say f**k u policy) which i hav cm to knw aftr instalation...acc to this policy after 8 gb for 799ul plan speed will go down to 256 kbps from 512 kbps....
m gng to chng it to bsnl....
hope this kind of prolm dsn't exist in bsnl

I'm a new Airtel broadband user. I have a 4mbps plan (allows 25GB downloads before the FUP kicks in) and I don see a difference between the 2mbps and 4 mbps plans. The max download speed that i get is still around 250kbps on torrents. IS anyone else facing the same problem?

Also as per speed test and Intel braodband speed test, my downlaod speed is being shown as 2.1 mpbs.

I want to know is it possible for my connection to show 2.1 mpbs downlaod speed when i have taken a 4 mbps plan? Thanks a lot.
