    Default Airtel 1699 1Mbps

For over 2 months I have been getting 2Mbps and with the recent changes in the ps3 scene I have exceeded my limit and am reverted to 1 Mbps

Is this change to 2Mbps for the 1699 plan official or is it an error from airtel's end and also after about 50 Gb my speed drops to 1Mbps with the redirected page showing up.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Airtel has introduced revised fair usage policies. Please contact the customer care to learn more about the revised FUP for your plan.

I thought after connection has FUPed speed will drop to 256 kbps in all plans. 1mbps after FUP is actually quite good

    It varies.

For 2 Mbps plans, the speeds after crossing the FUP is 1 Mbps

For 1 Mbps plans, it is 512 kbps

hmm, nice. For BSNL,except one plan, all post FUP plan speed dips to 256 Kbps where as for Rs. 750, you will get an 512 Kbps connection.

Are you sure. What i saw is that all FUP speeds are 256 kbps. Is those speeds because it is an older plan?

^^ If you ask me, they implement the FUP only on a select few connections. It is as if they monitor the heavy users and restrict their speeds; while they spare the rest of the users.

Ok I will check this month when I cross the usage.

IMO the basic idea behind FUP is justified, to prevent a few users from hogging all the bandwidth.

Its the limit that is ridiculous. If Airtel has to limit every user at 20GB for preserving their network, it means their infrastructure must suck real bad or its just a ploy to make more profit.

As speed increases FUP limits should also increase to atleast 75GB. But here the opposite is happening, as speed is increasing FUP is stagnant or going down. There is no point of having a 4mpbs connection if its going to stop at 25GB - the download is the whole point of taking a high speed connecon.
