    Thumbs down Airtel Feedback

Did you know that Airtel broadband has a fair usage policy ??? this fair usage policy says that a customer on what so ever speed on an unlimited plan has a DOWNLOAD LIMIT after which your speed will be reduced to 256kbps For everyone who doesn't know about broadband well 256kbps is the lowest broaband speed more info on wikipedia article "Broadband Internet access". Your download limit depends on the plan you choose. If you choose a plan with low rental your download limit is less. If you choose a plan with high rental your download limit is more. 8GB for 512kbps at Rs.899, 15GB for 1MBPS at Rs.1099, 20GB for 2MBPS at Rs.1299, 40GB for 2MBPS at Rs.1699 check out airtelbroadband.in. This is a clear indication that the company is greedy for more resources but cannot increase their rates as they have broadband competitors like reliance check out rcom.co.in So they CHOOSE to exploit the existing customers for more resources. This is the marketing strategy for Airtel India Pvt Ltd to yield more resources out of LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I wrote an email to airtel customer care which said
    To
    Whoever it may concern,

    Airtel phone no. is 02040068449
    Name: Rohintan Taraporwalla.
    Account No. 13027694

I have been an airtel customer for over 7 years ... In fact, I was the 1st customer to subscribe for Airtel Broadband in Pune City.

I have worked for multi ISP's in the UK, which gives me an insight on how ISP's work, where they came up with the idea of fair usage policy to avoid flooding their servers. For which when you sign up it is mentioned in your CONTRACT. This a very old trick in the book, but frankly I think it will just reduce your C-SAT.

I am currently on a 1MBPS speed, for which I was getting a bandwidth of 512kbps as on 17th Aug '10. After speaking to a superior called "Manav Bhattacharya" my speed was resumed to 1Mbps, but he is not sure how long it would stay on 1Mbps and has requested me to mail my concern to this email ID.

As you can see my logs which have countless GB's in downloads, reason being I have such a profession which needs me to download a particular amount of files per day.

When I signed up for airtel broadband, which was 7 years ago, I clearly remember signing nothing about a Fair Usage Policy. On what grounds has the fair usage policy been included in my contract.

I would humbly request to resume my connection as promised with 1Mbps speed without the fair usage policy.

If you are unable to provide the internet connection as promised, please inform me asap so I can look out of internet connections with your competitors.

I shall appreciate a call back on my alternate phone no. ie 9823478818 from a person with authority as it would be more convenient to discuss my query.

    Thank You.
    Rohintan Taraporwalla

    I got a reply saying
    Dear Customer,

Thank you for writing to Airtel Telemedia Services.

With reference to your e-mail dated 17/08/2010, you have requested for
existing plan details for your Airtel fixed line 02040068449.

We would like to inform you that as per the plan your speed has been
upgraded to 1 Mbps for the same fair usge policy is applicable till 20 GB
after consumption of 20 Gb the speed will automatically reduces to 512
    Kbps.

It is our privilege to have you as our valued customer and would like to
thank you for your continued patronage. We look forward to a long and
    fruitful association with you.

    Warm Regards,

    Madhu.M
    Customer Care Executive
    Bharti Airtel Limited.

Try to understand the intensity for the mail and all I get is a scripted reply. That has proved to be extremely poor customer service. I have 8 - 10 emails like this. I hope after reading this, airtel customers realize that they are being taken for granted and they need to stand up and give airtel a feedback.

Airtel support is pathetic now. They are dumping old customers and changing plans as they wish. They only want customers who will pay high charges without actually using them. i.e they would be happy if a customer bought 2 mb plan and only uses 2-3 gb per month.

I have been a customer for more than 4 years, and I have never experienced thier customer service being so pathetic.

And in Hyderabad , they only offer 2 Mb plans. Beam cable is better option.

best broadband conenction in terms of service and reasonable money is lookout for local internet operator,

mtnl just sucks noone listens if your net is not working, you have to wait for atleast 3-4 days to get your internet back to work. 1504 customer care persons dont even know english and dont even know some basic things like pinging the gateway etc....

airtel is very very COSTLY, they have a fair usage policy on every unlimited plan which they actually dont disclose to customers after which your connection speed will be reduced drastically or if not you will be sent with a very high bill for the usage beyond their FAIR USAGE POLICY LIMIT.

reliance just sucks too they are the same as MTNL,,,,,,

local operator will provide you a good connection and is available to you throughout the day to attend complaints, they attend you within minutes of calling them and are helpful in computer related problems too moreover they are reasonably priced and can give you heavy discount on advance payments.
    GO FOR THEM ONLY.......

i know WEBRIDERS INTERNET SERVICE is best in MALVIYA NAGAR area of south delhi
    CHEERS.
