Hi guys, need some help with this. I noticed that between 7.30 pm to 12.00 am Airtel is throttling the speed of torrents to something less 10kBps. I tried calling customer care and the support engineers are totally denying that this happens. One word - Liars!!
But here's what I think is happening - Airtel has some traffic throttling software which is doing some sort of a port scan. Every time I change the port number on uTorrent, the speed picks up to what I'm supposed to get. After a while, whatever traffic shaping/throttling tool Airtel is using understands this and throttles traffic on that port.
Does any one have any suggestions on how to get around this?
I'm so pissed off with Airtel. First they bait you with high speeds, then they use underhanded tricks like traffic shaping tools to cheat you out of the bandwidth you're paying for!!
I've raised a complaint with billing department and explicitly said that I will not be paying for days when this sort of tricks are being applied to my connection.
Does anyone have a similar experience?
EDIT:
I've explicitly called out that its the torrent protocol being throttled in the complaint.
