Unhappy Airtel Broadband disconnects within minutes bittorrent starts downloading full speed

    Dear All:

I am from Bangalore. I have Airtel Broadband (the supposedly unlimited plan) with 1 Mbps in day time and 2 Mbps in night.

I use a Buffalo WCR-G54 wireless modem connected to the Beetel 110BX1 modem to connect to internet. I use bit torrent to download movies from net.

Earlier I never had any problems, but off late, very frequently, a few minutes after the download starts, the broadband connection disconnects (the yellow exclamation mark on the 'Network Centre' icon. I have to switch the modem power off and then on to correct the issue. It happens in both mode, wireless and wired mode.

I am not able to find a closer pattern, but mostly happens only when I try downloading 2 -3 or more movies simultaneously.

I have not noted the modem light condition earlier, which I will note next time it happens and shall post it.

    I use Windows 7 Enterprise, the network adapter I have are, Intel(R) 82562GT 10/100 Network Connection & Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.

Let me know if any other info is needed for anyone to help me.

    Thanks in advance

    Baala

    1. Try port forwarding. It may help.

    2. Enable UPnP and check.

    3. Check your SNR and attenuation values.

    1. Can you please help me a bit more on port forwarding... The wall board is connected to Beetel model and that is connected to my Buffalo wireless router. Now..... which one should I consider for port forwarding.....

    2. It is already enabled

    3. I have attached the screen shot

Incidentally, it happened again and I had noted down the modem light

When Normal, the beetal ADSL modem's lights are as follows:
    Power -Red - Always ON
    Link- Yellow - Always ON
Data and PC continously Blinking - very fast &
In the Buffalo wireless modem: Power - Green - Always ON
    Wireless - Green - Blink
Router - Green - Always ON

    When the problem occurs,
In the Beetel modem, Power - Always ON
    Link - Always ON
Data - Almost ON bit blinks once every 45 sec or so.....
    PC - Always ON and
    in Buffalo wireless router,
all three, power, wireless & router - are in Always ON state.....

For a stable connection uncheck adsl2+ in Modem menu DSL.
If Gdmt or adsl2 is selected see the snr/attn data.
Also disable Client Tr_069 under Management.
    Feedback.

    Portforwarding :
beetel 220BX is listed in portforward.com

In case you did not know, Airtel has been throttling torrent downloads since some months. The reactions are mixed because a few are not experiencing it while the rest are!

try downloads in LAN mode and not in WIFI mode.
Also Mod mode still adsl2+ . Uncheck box in DSL page.
